Baseball Sweeps Three-Game Set With Bowdoin

With non-conference games (Brandeis Wednesday, Endicott Sunday) bookending a weekend set with the Polar Bears of Bowdoin College, Colby looked intent to keep their winning streak going. After dropping two-out-of-three to Bowdoin last year, the Mules swept their rivals in three straight games to extend their win streak to seven and push their win total over 20 for the second consecutive year.

Matthew Panker

In a seesaw battle Friday afternoon in Brunswick, the Mules used home runs by Brady O'Brien and Cole Palmeri, as well as a five-run eighth inning, to propel past the Polar Bears 7-6. Pitcher Nicholas Thompson picked up his team-leading fourth victory of the season.

In Saturday's double-header in Waterville, Colby upended Bowdoin 4-0 and 9-5. Game 1 starter Jack Pletter threw a complete game, earning his second consecutive victory since moving into the rotation. Marcus Forrester had RBI singles in the first and third innings to pace the offense. O'Brien and Matthew Panker each had two hits in game 2, combining to score five of Colby's nine runs.
