This guide is going to walk you through what a boudoir photoshoot is and how the process works over here at SARAH LANE STUDIOS. I am excited to get you in the studio! The guide is very thorough...which means it's long! Sit down, grab a glass of wine and read this to the very end!

Boudoir is an expression of female sexuality and empowerment. While an album makes a fantastic gift for a partner, make sure you're doing this for the right reasons. The album might be for them, but the experience is for you. Get ready to bring out that BOSS BABE energy and rock your session.
Allow yourself permission to be sexy and have fun! We are going to focus on these three things:
Brains.
Beauty.
Booty!
Where are you located? Our studio is located at 1095 North Main Street Milton, WV 25541. We have multiple sets, a makeup and wardrobe area and a fabulous sales area full of samples where you will view your images during your Reveal! Our studio is FULL of gorgeous natural light, hardwood floors, and hand selected decor.
So what is boudoir? Boudoir technically is a French word which means 'a woman's dressing room', but I like to think of it as just a fancy word for women's intimate portraiture. Boudoir is NOT pornographic. Boudoir can be fun, flirty, beautiful, cute, sexy, feminine, intimate, candid, posed, or really anything else you want it to be. What would I do with boudoir portraits? I actually believe that boudoir is the best gift you can give YOURSELF, to capture your essence as you are in this moment. When you need a reminder of the strong, courageous and beautiful woman that you are, you will have a collection of amazing portraits to look at. I love it when women come to me to strengthen themselves and own their power. The images we create together will boost your self esteem and your confidence, and that should be celebrated by YOU! It will help you to reclaim your femininity and your sexuality. These two things are often lost as we get consumed with our lives, our jobs and our families. The goal is to put that pep back in your step and revel in the goddess that you are! Celebrate the body that you live in!
I don't look like the women in your portfolio! There is no such thing as a perfect body. You are never too big, too small or too old to do a boudoir session! (Boudoir clients must be over 21). Boudoir is for every BODY. Let me prove it to you!
Can you make me look thinner? I want to help you feel confident in the skin you're in. Just the way you are. We flatter you with hair and makeup styling, a wardrobe that compliments your figure, and amazing lighting and posing techniques to highlight your best ASS-SETS (see what I did there ;) I do not change your body excessively in photoshop. Don't get me wrong, we will gladly remove blemishes and bruising, but we do not manipulate your body to make you someone that you are not. We already live in a time where we are consumed with unrealistic bodies in the media, I want to show you that you are beautiful at this very moment.
What about retouching? We are happy to retouch your images! All of our images will have, pimples, bruising, scratches and under eye circles removed. We do offer retouching on things like cellulite, scarring, small tattoos, stretch marks, etc that you may want removed. Honestly, most of our clients are WOW-ed at how amazing their images look straight out of camera and opt for less retouching than they thought they would need. It's a very personal decision, and one that we leave up to you! We do not remove tan lines, but can minimize them if requested. I highly recommend NOT doing spray tans as they can alter your skin tones dramatically on camera (You'll turn orange), so proceed with caution.

What Will I Wear?
What the heck do I wear? My policy is always " When in doubt, bring it!" You are always welcome to make a Pinterest Board and share it with me, so I can help you make your dream shoot a reality. I have an amazing client wardrobe that you can borrow from for your session with so many pieces to choose from (sizes XS-6x). I will be more than willing to pull pieces from the closet JUST for you and your day!!
Great places to start looking are Victoria's Secret, Yandy, Amazon, Playful Promises, Shein, Thistle and Spire, SavagexFenty, Oh la la Cheri, Torrid, Hips and Curves, AdoreMe and Agent Provocateur.
HELPFUL TIPS
- Teddies are flattering on so many body types!
- Avoid BabyDoll lingerie, as it will alter your body shape on camera.
- Heels are amazing but make sure they are a thin/tall heel with not ankle straps (cuts length off the leg).
- Self Tanning is a hard pass (It turns you orange on camera).
- Opt for bikini or thong cut bottoms.
- I'm a minimalist when it comes to jewelry. We do a lot of laying down poses and the jewelry may not lay the way it is intended.
- Pushup Bras may create a large gap between the natural breast line and the bra itself. Use caution.
- Sheer White Shirts or JUST A SHEET are amazing to photograph in!!
- Try on your outfits before coming in to the studio to make sure they fit properly!
- Moisturize face and body before coming to your session!!
- Don't forget to breathe!!! You are going to look and feel amazing!!!
Do I get to talk to you before your session? About two weeks before your session we will have a consultation over the phone so that we can prepare you for your session and get to know you better. We are here for you every step of the way to make sure that you feel prepared and comfortable during this whole process. If you have questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out. HOW DOES THIS ALL WORK?

How does this all work?? Your entire experience will last roughly 4 hours. You will receive complimentary hair and makeup, access to the client wardrobe, and so much more! Sara is going to pose you from head to pointed toe, and help you with a variety of facial expressions!! Prepare to be a bit sore after your session, we do a LOT of bending and twisting (it's quite a workout!!) Studio Sessions begin at 9AM Monday-Friday and finish around 1 PM at the latest. We will then schedule your IMAGE REVEAL Appointment for either the next day or what works best for your schedule! We will select which images you would like to purchase and how you would like to display them at home!
Ordering appointments take approx. 1 to 1.5 hrs. Minimum investments are due 1 week prior to your session, if you have not already taken advantage of the PRE-PAYMENT PLANS (More to come in later emails).
Often times ladies find that they would like to UPGRADE at the REVEAL! They just can't decide!!
How long does it take to get the Albums and Wall Art back? You will receive products in about 3-6 weeks once your final payment is processed! Digital Images will be delivered the same day via downloadable gallery. All ordering decisions must be made at your reveal appointment.
The Session Fee is $690 and is required to reserve a space on our calendar.
The retainer is meant to book the date in my calendar and is there for non-refundable. We often book ladies months in advance, so in order to be fully booked, retainer is necessary!

**All images are purchased separately from the Session Fee at the Reveal & Image Ordering Appointment** Payment Options are In-house and Interest Free. You can opt for the Pre-Payment and Incentives Program and Upgrade Payment Plans. We accept all major Debit and Credit Cards as well as offer a 3% discount on any CASH you bring to pay for your products.
I need my images by xx date when should I book?
Our studio books up 2-3 months in advance and our printed products can take up to 6 weeks for delivery. If you have a special occasion coming up or wish to book a holiday appointment, I recommend booking 4-6 months in advance of that date.
Can my spouse/friend/mom come to my session or my ordering appointment? We do not allow guests to be present for any portion of the time you spend with us. Our services are best delivered in a 1-on-1 atmosphere with your complete undivided attention.
What can I expect to spend at my Reveal & Ordering Appointment? What you purchase is entirely up to you! Some women come to me and purchase an album and some women spend add on digitals, wall art and want the WORKS!!. You can purchase from our Collections Menu or the A La Carte Menu, both of which will be sent to you immediately following the completion of your booking process. We offer an entire day experience and will show you anywhere from 70-100 images. Our A La Carte options begin at $1900 and our Album Collections begin at $2890. These luxury products are of the highest quality and will stand the test of time! This is an investment that is worth its weight in gold. You'll never tire of looking at your images or forget the way the session day made you feel! I can not wait for you to see yourself as the Goddess that you are!
