LATEST NEWS
As the summer heat continues, we eagerly count the days until the beginning of our 2022-2023 school year. This is an exciting time of year in which we look forward to a world of possibilities and new beginnings. We have spent our summer preparing for the upcoming year, hiring outstanding candidates, attending training, and spending time with loved ones.
Please take a moment to welcome our new staff members to Corey Academy. We are proud to introduce them as our newest Corey Cubs.
registration
We would like to thank all our families who have completed the registration process online, and who have uploaded all their documents. As part of the process, please make sure to upload a copy of a goverment issued identification and proof of residence for every child who is enrolling at Corey Academy (not just one for the whole family). Please see list of required documents below.
If you have not been able to register yet, please take a moment to fill out the registration by following the link below. All AISD students must register through Frontline TEAMS (Parent Self Serve) and upload the appropriate documents. Families are strongly encouraged to complete online registration and upload as many registration documents as possible during this process. These documents must be uploaded prior to the first day of school.
In-person registration
Corey Academy will be open for In-Person Registration at the times listed below. We are happy to assist our families that may need some extra support. We will also be verifying that the registration is complete, and handing out the teacher assignments for the upcoming year (on a pink paper). We will be handing "Pink Tickets" that will allow families immediate entrance into our Sneak-a-Peek event on Thursday, August 11th from 5:30-7:00 p.m.
The First Day of School for the 2022-2023 is August 15th. Please see Calendar below for the 2022-2023 school year.
Sneak-A-Peek
We hope everyone can join us on Thursday, August 11th from 5:30-7:00 p.m. for our Sneak-A-Peek. Please make sure to bring the classroom assignment (pink paper) given to you during Registration as your "ticket" into the event. This is a great opportunity to meet your child's teacher, drop off supplies, and visit the building. A huge thank you to our Corey Cubs PTA for coordinating our school supply sale. They will be delivering all the Supply Packs directly to the classroom before the first day of school.
School Supplies
We appreciate our Corey Cubs PTA for coordinating our School Supply pack sale. They will have those pre-purchased school supplies delivered directly to the classroom before the first day of school. Please contact our PTA directly if you have any questions about school supply packs purchased.
Please see School Supply list below for those who still need to purchase supplies for the school year.
Transportation
Arlington ISD provides transportation to and from Corey Academy and various transportation hub sites. The following schools have been selected as hub sites this school year: Bebensee, Fitzgerald, Foster, Hale, Key, Little, Morton and Remynse Elementary. The students should be at their hubs by 7:05 a.m. The driver may or may not adjust the times, but will inform us if they do change. The afternoon drop-off times vary upon location, traffic, etc. They usually drop off between 3:50-4:30. Please take a moment to apply for transportation if interested.
Also, please make sure to sign up for the Bus Bulletin to receive up to date information when needed.
food and nutrition
Please see important information below about school meals:
"During the pandemic, the Arlington ISD was able to offer no cost meals to all students due to temporary program flexibilities provided by the federal government. These flexibilities have expired. In the 2022-23 school year, schools are required to return to charging for school meals on the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) based on program eligibility."
Please see application link below for the Free and Reduced Price Meal Applications.
back to school kick0ff
Please see information below about AISD's Back to School Kickoff:
"Of course the Arlington ISD Back to School Kickoff has backpacks filled with school supplies for up to 10,000 students, but did you know it offers much more than that?! From dental checks and vision screenings to FREE haircuts, courtesy of cosmetology students from the Arlington ISD Dan Dipert Career and Technical Center, this year’s event has something to help every student get ready for the new school year."
Please read additional information below and register for the event taking place on Saturday, August 6th if interested.
summer enrichment camp
Corey and Jones students (going into 3rd - 5th grade) had so much fun during our week-long enrichment camp on July 18th-22nd. Our theme was "La copa mundial" as we look forward to the World Cup (soccer) later on this year in Qatar. We encouraged our students to learn about different cultures through art, dance and sports, while practicing our Spanish (and making new friends). We learned about Germany, Colombia, Samoa, Egypt, Venezuela, Spain, Mexico, Nicaragua, Argentina and Brazil. Our culminating activity was a "penalty shoot-out" from our various nations. We certainly heard the famous "GOOOOOOOOOOOOL" plenty during this time! ¡¡¡Viva el futbol!!!
Corey Cubs PTA
Our Corey Cubs PTA plays such an integral role in our school community. We look forward to working together once more this school year. Please see information below from our Corey PTA:
Have you ever wondered where your PTA membership dollars go? From the $8.50 that you pay to join PTA, $2.25 goes to National PTA, $2.25 goes to Texas PTA, and $4.00 comes right back here to Corey. We use these funds for things like field trips for our students, reimbursing our teachers for school supplies they purchase, and even giving back to our community by giving away a $1,000 scholarship to a high school senior in our district. Your PTA membership does so much more than you know. For only $8.50 you are partnering with our PTA to provide the best possible school experience for our students and staff here at Dean P. Corey Academy of Fine Arts and Dual Language. We could not do this without YOU!
To join PTA, please go to www.joinpta.org and select the AISD option and then select the Corey option.
La membresía de la PTA está oficialmente abierta para el año escolar 22-23. / PTA membership is officially open for the 22-23 school year.
Remember, PTA isn’t just for parents and teachers! Students, grandparents, aunts, uncles, friends, business leaders, community members, and other staff members all help enhance the experiences of our students! 💙
