All About the Mountain Schools

3 Campuses, 1 School, and the Beautiful Rocky Mountains

The Poudre School District’s Mountain Schools are considered ‘one school’ with three campuses that are situated in the Rocky Mountains of Northern Colorado. These campuses are Livermore Elementary, Red Feather Lakes Elementary, and Stove Prairie Elementary. The Mountain Schools are one of the most unique schools in Colorado.

Every campus features a multi-graded learning environment. At each campus there are three certified teachers with combined classrooms. Each classroom has a small student/teacher ratio and is divided into the following grades: Kindergarten/1st Grade (K-1); 2nd Grade/3rd Grade (2-3); and 4th Grade/5th Grade (4-5).

The Mountain Schools offer a challenging math program and learning opportunities that focus on literacy instruction, including a rigorous reading series with a literature-based component and integration of reading and writing. Classroom laptops and a media center complement all instructional areas.

Art, music, life skills, physical education, makerspace, STEM, and media are rotated during the week for specials. Our specials teachers rotate to every Mountain School campus during the week.

Since we are such a unique school our staff excel at differentiating curriculum to meet individual student’s needs and offers a rich selection of programs to education “the whole child.”

We develop autonomous, inquisitive, and empowered learners.

We will meet the individual needs of every student.

We will empower students to take ownership of their learning path.

We will facilitate student experiences that develop communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity

School Meals

At this time, breakfast and lunch will no longer be free for all students. Please apply for the Free and Reduced Program now. Last year we were able to offer universal free meals to all students provided by federal funding. That program has now come to an end, however we will continue to offer nutritious breakfast and lunch meal options for the Mountain Schools students for a great value. Students that have applied and qualify for free and reduced lunch will continue to receive their meals at no cost. Apply on-line at www.myschoolapps.com. Families do have to apply each school year. Free and reduced meal application: (under the FORMS tab once you are logged into ParentVUE) will allow you to waive meals, classroom, athletic, and some after school fees. Even if you feel you do not need additional financial support it helps the Mountain Schools immensely to have each family complete this form (this helps us acquire more educational funds).

Transportation

Transportation: Bus Requests Open for 22-23

PSD aims to transport as many students as possible to and from school. To ensure that families needing transportation receive this service, riders must now apply for busing each year, even if they’ve had busing before. Families may submit a PSD bus request for the 2022-23 school year here.

We are looking forward to seeing all the new and familiar faces in the 22/23 school year!

If you have any questions please contact us!
