Describe the stages of a specific Creative Media project life cycle 2.1 2,2
I will be applying my answer specifically to Infotel Leisure magazine. The Infotel Leisure magazine is created monthly and goes out to members and non-members of Infotel. The project life cycle has many stages within its process.
1. Pre-production - Each leisure magazine has a theme and then content is created around this theme. For example Valentine's Day. The first initial stage of the magazine is to create a plan and brief of what we want the magazine to achieve and what message we want the magazine to denote to our audience. Once a plan has been put in place, it is then time to construct the magazine.
2. Production - This is the most time-consuming part as it involves creating content to go in the magazine, communicating with member hotels to be able to provide interviews in the magazine, gathering testimonials and designing the layout of the magazine for that particular month. The main focus of the production part of the process is to make sure that throughout the production, the brief is being met, improving aspects of the magazine and making alterations as we go along.
A draft of the magazine (finished in the eyes of the marketing executive and designer) is given to other colleagues to give back feedback. The feedback will be gathered and any alterations which will be beneficial to the magazine will be made. The next step is to hand the final draft into the Directors for them to approve before sending out live via email and on the website.
3. Post Production - The last part of the process will be to evaluate the magazine and look at what worked well, what didn't work well and what might be something to use consistently within the magazine. This can be gathering and interpreted from the statistics of that months issue.
Distribution - The magazine is sent out via email and becomes accessible via the internet. This is sent out to hundreds and thousands of non-members and member hotels.
Marketing - In order to reach maximum engagement, the magazine will be promoted through the brands Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. The marketing team will make use of popular hashtags e.g. SundayRead. They will also make use of the analytics to see which times will gain maximum impressions and engagement from our target audience. This helps towards the readership of the magazine.
Explain and justify resources required for a specific project
I will apply my answer to the same specific project discussed previously. The Infotel leisure magazine requires many resources to make the construction of the magazine possible.
Firstly for the pre-production, It is essential to have the internet available and some form of page document to put together a brief and plan. The internet is essential because before implementing an idea or concept, it is important you have researched and thought of all routes to take the magazine. Research is a vital part of pre-production. You need to then put a documented brief in place for those working on the magazine to be able to access.
To be able to produce the magazine, It is important to use word/pages to come up with ideas and develop them into content for the magazine, again the internet is needed for this to be able to access hotels and research as you go along. For a project like this, the designer will need to have access to photoshop to be able to construct the magazine together, this is the way the designer has been trained to produce a magazine. Other adobe products are used throughout e.g. illustrator, so that the magazine has personalised logos.
When the magazine is complete, the IT department will access the mail shots to send out an advertisement for the magazine. It's essential for this resource to be accessible as it is the way the magazine creates word of mouth and is highlighted to the audience that it is out. Marketing will then use the social media platforms to advertise separately, this is an important step to creating maximum engagement.
