Rock Valley wins first women's bowling title in school history

Lansing, MI - The Rock Valley (IL) Golden Eagles took home the 2022 NJCAA Women's Bowling Championship and Royal Scot Golf and Bowl. The Golden Eagles 13,148 was the most pins knocked by a national champion since 2010. Redshirt sophomore Tegan Peterson led the way for Rock Valley, winning both the All-Event and Singles Championships. Rock Valley also saw three doubles teams finish in the top-5.

Two-time defending champion Iowa Central came up just short of a three-peat, coming in second place. Jackson (MI) finished in third place, and Hawkeye (IA) and Iowa Western rounded out the top-5.

Championship Results

Rock Valley claims its first women's bowling championship in school history. Iowa Central comes in close behind in second place, with Jackson coming in third.

Rock Valley started off strong and held the lead from start to finish, totaling 13,148 pins in the championship.

Peterson leads Golden Eagles to first title

Rock Valley never trailed throughout the championship. After the first day of play, they held a 143 pin lead over second place. Going into Saturday, they extended the lead to 163 pins.

Tegan Peterson was a force on the lanes all tournament, bringing home the all-event title with a score of 2,409 and the singles title with 655 pins.

The Golden Eagles saw three duos finish in the top-4 of the doubles event. The duo of Olivia Watton and Jocelynn Eggert finished in second place in the doubles event, Rebbeca Meyers and Amanda Bohn finished in third, and finally, Samantha Meyers and Peterson came in fourth.

The freshman Eggert also put together a strong weekend, finishing in the top-10 in all three events. Olivia Watton also put together a top-10 finish in both doubles and all-event.

Iowa Central finishes as runner-up

Iowa Central entered the 2022 championship as the two-time defending champion. This year, Iowa Central proved why they are one of the best women's bowling programs.

Freshman Abigail Price was one of the most consistent bowlers across all three events in the tournament. Price and doubles teammate Olivia Nolte were the doubles champions.

Price also finished in second place in both the all-event and singles events. Sophomore Samantha Wangen brought home a third-place finish in the all-event and a fifth-place singles finish.

All-America Finishers

The top-8 finishers of the All-Events standings are named to the NJCAA All-America team. The All-America team features three members from champion Rock Valley, and two from Iowa Central and Jackson respectively. Iowa Western's Jerika Koopmeiners also earned All-America status.
