Dear Phoenix Club Member,

My name is Joe Savino, and I am a senior right-handed pitcher on the Elon Baseball Team. I am currently finishing my last semester as a finance major, and I want to share with you part of my journey and express my sincerest gratitude for your generosity towards Elon Athletics.

As a recipient of both athletic and academic scholarships, I can be a part of this incredible university, learn, grow as a student, and strive for greatness in the sport I love. Although my freshman year was cancelled due to COVID, I had a good sophomore and junior year. I plan on building off these past years to help me reach my goal of playing professional baseball. Last summer, I was lucky enough to represent Elon in the Cape Cod Baseball League playing with the Harwich Mariners. At the end of the year, I earned the league-lowest ERA at a 1.59, won the Most Outstanding Pitcher Award for the team, and was elected to the All-Cape Team. None of this would have been possible without the opportunity of wearing an Elon jersey on the front of my chest and your generosity to Elon Athletics.

A very special thing about being a student-athlete is the relationships and connections I have built over the years and how they have positively impacted my life. From being a freshman to being a senior, I have had both ends of the spectrum in terms of meeting new guys and being able to share memories with them. I will graduate Spring 2023 from the Martha & Spencer Love Business School with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree in finance. After Elon, I hope to continue my baseball career professionally with a secondary plan to use my finance degree in the business field.

I want to personally thank you for supporting student-athletes like me in chasing our dreams and helping us strive for our greatest potential. With your support to Elon Athletics, you directly provide us with the opportunity to succeed in our sport and our academic careers. Without the scholarships I have received, I would not be where I am today, and I am forever grateful for all the experiences I have had at Elon. Thank you for your generosity, kindness, and most of all your belief in Elon student-athletes. It means more than you will ever know!
