COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT

Overgrown Weeds and Vegetation

The Community Preservation Staff has been focusing on complaints related to vegetation. All the rain we have been having has created a lot of overgrown vegetation. Staff is grateful that most people bring their property into compliance within the specified time.

Overgrown weeds and vegetation not only look unsightly, but they can harbor rats, vermin, and insects. Without watering, in the dry months they can turn into a fire hazard. The Temple City Municipal Code states that lawns with grass more than six inches in height constitutes a public nuisance. With all the rain over the last few months and with the oncoming sun of spring, our Community Preservation inspectors would like to remind Temple Citians to keep their lawns trimmed. They will be canvassing the City over the next few months and focusing on this issue. To report problem cases, please call our inspectors at (626) 285-5240.
