The Maronite Church was founded in the Fertile Crescent area. The common language was Aramaic. Out of all of the Eastern churches the Maronite Church is the only one that is named after a Saint. The Saint that founded the church is St. Maron.

The Maronite Church shares the same practices of the Catholic Church. They had the Catholic tradition before Rome even adopted the Church.

Worship and Liturgy

The Maronite liturgy is one of the oldest in the Catholic Church. The early Antioch liturgy is the basis of the Maronite liturgy. They have many chants and hymns in Aramaic.

Icons and Gestures

St. Sharbel is one of the important Saints from the Maronite Church. He entered St. Maron Monastery in Lebanon in 1853 and lived there as a monk and priest for 16 years. The main focus of the monks is their dedication to the Heart of Christ.

Spirituality

The Maronite faith perseveres the faith of their ancestors, spiritually united with each other in the Church throughout the world. The Maronite Church contributes to the renewal of the entire Catholic Church.
