DAY ONE: LAAP SHOWCASE MARCh 17

On Thursday 3/17, the ESB MACC will exclusively present performances by our artist residency program, LAAP (Latino Artist Access Program). Past LAAP performances at the MACC have included live sets by singer-songwriters, theater productions, live comedy shows, and even traditional folkloric dance. All LAAP artists have been invited to contribute a performance or presentation. Please see the full list of LAAP artists here.
JAVIER JARA
Javier Jara is an Austin based singer-songwriter, arranger, composer and music instructor from Cuenca, Ecuador. True to his roots, Jara has performed and produced several concerts featuring the wealth and diversity of the music of Latin America, from the Rio Grande to the Tierra del Fuego.
MAURICIO CALLEJAS
Mauricio Callejas is a Salvadoran Singer-songwriter that incorporates elements of poetry and social consciousness songs, known as Trova, into a wide variety of popular Latin American rhythms. His latest album “Crisis”, released in 2020 is a good sample of his music influences. Mauricio will perform with a band of talented musicians, sing tunes from his latest albums, and also preview a couple of new songs from his upcoming 2022 EP.
MONIQUE DACHEFF
As part of our MACCnifico! 2022 - LAAP Showcase, presents Monique Dache, a Mexican-American Singer-Songwriter who records and performs in diverse genres for jazz, pop, rock, and opera. The Monique Dache Band will perform songs from her album, Lost Love, which was recently selected to be part of the Austin Public Library's Electric Lady Bird collection. She will perform her original songs Lost Love, Confession, All Together, a jazz cover rendition of "LOVE" and "I Could Fall In Love With You" by Tejano Legend Selena. Her band will also perform a mix of upbeat lively instrumental music. Monique Dache Band members include Kevin Reynes on drums and guitar Manuel Rojas, Jr.
In her philanthropic efforts to advance the performing arts with youth at an early age, she founded the Austin based fiscally sponsored non-profit organization, Artistic Education Company.
TEATRO VIVO
Teatro Vivo makes Latino-based, bilingual theatrical experiences accessible to all audiences, especially culturally underserved community members. By telling the Latino story and addressing critical social issues, the company celebrates the vibrancy of Latino culture and the power of the human experience.
