SPRING 2 NEWSLETTER WORSBROUGH COMMON PRIMARY

We can't believe it's the Easter holidays already! The children have been very busy this half term being readers, writers, mathematicians and historians. We are on the official count down to SATS for Year 2 and Year 6 and we can't wait for our pupils to show what they are capable of.

YEAR GROUP ROUNDUP

CIRP

Year 1

Year one have been learning about space travel and astronauts. We have been looking at time lines and putting objects and people into chronological order. We have looked at how we can find out about the past and we have used these sources to find out information about space travel. We used our knowledge to create our own top trump cards!

Year 2

Year 2 have been looking at different sources to find out about The Great Fire of London. We talked about the reliability of the source and what information we can gather to help us as historians. Look our for our Keynote presentations all about the Great Fire of London.

Year 3

Year 3 have been very busy learning about coalmining in Barnsley and interviewing our caretakers Keith and Steve about their experiences working down the pit!

Year 4

Year 4 have been really busy this half term writing news reports in Literacy, practising our karate skills, and exploring what life was like as a Roman soldier! We're not sure if we would have been tough enough to join the Roman Army... we'll be putting our skills to the test when we visit Let Loose Adventure Centre after the holidays!

Year 5

COMING UP NEXT HALF TERM

On Friday 6th May, we are holding a non-uniform day and bun sale to raise money for people in Ukraine. Please see the flyers below for details. If you are able to support us by donating buns for this event we would be really grateful!

Key Stage 2

Key Stage 1

BYC are touring to perform at the Edinburgh fringe. Sadly, they know that many of their members can not afford to go and they need help.

They hope to take over 170 children to Edinburgh, 12 of those attend HCAT primary schools. The cost covers travel, accommodation, food, venue and insurance. As a trust we are committed to supporting BYC in ensuring they do go and that there isn’t a barrier for them.

By raising £250 we will be able to support a young person with the costs. BYC have sourced a crowd funder project which means for every £250 we raise it will be match funded- meaning that 2 children would be able to go! This means that if we raise £1500 across all of our primary schools, all our BYC HCAT pupils can go! Anything additional to this supports other children to go. What an achievement!
