Dragon Journal November 18, 2022

It's Cold Outside! - Time to prepare for the cold weather and snow! All students are expected to come to school prepared for outdoor recess. Recess is an important and beneficial time during a child’s day. A warm coat, a hat, gloves, boots and snowpants are essential during the cold weather. If a child does not come to school with boots, they will play in a small cleared area on the playground and cannot participate fully in outdoor recess. Also, all students are sent outside, even if they do not bring a hat, gloves, or outdoor winter clothing. Please send your child prepared for outdoor recess.

No School Reminder - Troy School District will be closed November 23rd, 24th and 25th for Thanksgiving Break. Classes resume on Monday, November 28th. Enjoy your break and time with family!

Clinic Volunteers Needed! - We are looking for volunteers during lunch period (12:00pm-1:30pm) to help out in our office clinic. You would be providing basic first aid and some TLC (cleansing scrapes, minor cuts and applying band aids, taking temperatures, etc). Please click the button below to signup. For more information, please email Clinic Chairperson, Kelley Ryan (her email link is on the SignUpGenius page).

Important iPad Information for Kindergarten Families

Dear Schroeder Kindergarten Parents,

Your kindergarten child recently brought home their TSD iPad. The iPad was placed in a plastic bag with a card that included your child’s username, password, and classroom teacher. The iPad has already been signed in with your child’s credentials to WiFi, Schoology, and an Apple ID.

Currently, we are focusing our time teaching the foundational skills of reading, writing, phonics, and math. We are slowing working to integrate iPad use into the classroom. Our students bring iPads to school each day as part of their school routine. It is helpful to have the device charged at home when needed and kept in a safe location.

Here are two links that you will need to access in PowerSchool. Please complete the technology responsibility form and consider purchasing insurance for your child’s iPad. You should have previously received information regarding iPad insurance. I HIGHLY recommend paying $10 for the insurance as accidents can happen. iPad insurance has been very beneficial to several other students in the past.

CLICK HERE for information and instructions for the iPad insurance and how to sign the Student iPad Responsibility Form. Select the iPad Insurance: Responsibility, Fees, & Information Tab.

CLICK HERE to access the PowerSchool Parent Portal to complete these two tasks.

If you have any questions about iPad insurance or how to access the PowerSchool Parent Portal, please contact our Technology Help Desk at help@troy.k12.mi.us or 248-823-5092.

Sincerely, Principal Canfield

After learning about the different types of wind tools meteorologists use, students worked together to design, create, and test wind tools of their own.
