Denver’s Concrete Jungle The Urban Safari

Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve had a chance to explore downtown Denver for the first time! In a nutshell, It is a crazy experience where everything is so closely knit and its easy-ish to get to, as long as you are walking…

Streets of Denver

The trip isn’t too bad by car. Like any big city, the roads are filled with traffic that has aggressive drivers but it’s not deal breaker. Denver has plenty of sites and exciting opportunities to offer, so a semi stressful drive into the heart of Colorado’s capital isn’t the worst thing to sit through. As soon as you reach LoDo, streams of cars flow into different roads going in all sorts of different different directions. For someone who doesn’t visit big cities often, it’s pretty disorienting! Adding to the wonderful confusion, I needed to find an affordable parking spot and with all the side of the streets filled, I had to settle for a parking spot that charged $6 for every 30 minutes. The whole situation was a bit to rich for my taste so I decided to make this photo shoot into a challenge.

Construction Downtown

How many good pictures could I get of downtown Denver within an hour? The challenge seemed easy enough. I thought it’d be a fun quick in and out but little did I know how fun it would be to explore the city! There is a transit center where all of Denver’s light rails (they are kind of like trams or subway trains but above ground) converge! There are people riding on rent-able scooters to get around town! Heck, there is even a place called the Dairy Block which is a whole block dedicated to milk!

The challenge was certainly fun but so hard to stick too. I wish I spent the whole day there to get an even better look of the city. It feels like only the scratched the surface of what can be seen and there is still so much more to discover! As soon as the timer went off, sadness washed over me as I made my way to my car. There were so many more sites to capture but the parking meter wasn't going to wait any longer and my wallet wasn't happy with me. The experience was fantastic and there are plans in the works to come back soon.
