Degree Audit Tutorial University Exploration - The Ohio State University

The Degree Audit is a tool used to help students check their progress towards degree. When scheduling courses, use your Degree Audit to determine which degree requirements still need to be completed.

Running a Degree Audit

Step 1: Accessing your Degree Audit

There are two options for accessing your Degree Audit:

Option #1: Navigate to www.buckeyelink.osu.edu and type "Degree Audit" into the search window.

Select "Degree Audit" from the drop down menu and then click on the "Degree Audit" tile.

Option #2: From your "My Buckeye Link" page, click on the "Degree Audit" link on the right side of the screen.

Step 2: If You're Not Logged In Already, You'll Be Prompted To Do So

If you need to log in, enter your Ohio State credentials, which are your name.# and the password you use to access your e-mail.

Step 3: Request an Audit

When you reach this page, the "Run Current Programs" button will already be selected.

Leaving the "Run Current Programs" button selected will result in an error when you run your Degree Audit. Instead, click the "Run Selected Program" button.

From there, you will select your "School", "College", "Major", and "Degree". For some majors, you will have a choice between a Bachelor of Arts (BA) and a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree. Requirements for these degrees differ so be sure to select the correct "Degree" option.

Example: Bachelor of Arts in Psychology in the College of Arts and Sciences

Depending on the major you've chosen, you may also see a "Program" drop down menu. If you see this, select the correct specialization within the major.

Example: World Economy & Business specialization within the International Studies major

For "Catalog Year" make one of the following selections:

  • If you started at Ohio State in Autumn 2022 (or after), select "AU 2022"
  • If you started at Ohio State in Summer 2022 (or before), select "SU 2022" or any previous term ("AU 2021", "AU 2020", etc.)

NOTE: If you started at Ohio State in Autumn 2022 but are following the Legacy GE (GE-L), select "SU 2022" or any previous term ("AU 2021", "AU 2020", etc.) for the "Catalog Year"

Step 4 (Optional): Add a Minor

You have the option to add a minor to your Degree Audit, but it is not required. If you would like to include a minor, click on the "Minor" button and then select a minor from the drop down menu on the right side of the screen.

Step 5: Run Your Audit

Click the "Run Audit" button near the bottom of the page.

Reading Your Degree Audit

After your Degree Audit loads (this may take a few seconds), click the "Open All Sections" link near the top of the page to make your audit easier to read.

Icons: Complete, In Progress, Unfulfilled

Near the top of your Degree Audit, there is a box containing different icons that you'll see throughout your audit. These icons will indicate whether a degree requirement is complete, in progress, or unfulfilled.

Don't see one of your classes?

Courses that count towards graduation but do not fulfill a specific degree requirement can be found near the bottom of your Degree Audit.
