Celebration!
In Class 9, we've had a fantastic half term! We've showed Miss Culshaw so many of the school values from being respectful all the way to being resilient!
We also had children receiving their reading badges and prizes!
Also well done to those children that have won a TT Rockstars Certificate! Keep up the brilliant work!
Literacy
During this term in Literacy, we used the Land of Make Believe as our inspiration and created two amazing outcomes. For our first piece we used skills such as prepositional phrases, different sentence types and high-level vocabulary to describe three different settings – a forest, a castle and a waterfall. We impressed Miss Culshaw with our determination to produce a beautifully presented final piece.
LIRA
In LIRA this term, we firstly focused on the story of Arthur and The Golden Robe, we enjoyed discussing our predictions and also liked using the pictures of the story to help us with our answers. We then moved onto focusing on the story The Explorers! During these topics we explored comprehension style questions and used our own opinion to give detailed answers!
Maths
In maths this half term we recapped measure and geometry! We then applied our skills to problem solving and reasoning questions.. We really impressed Miss Culshaw with our resilience and determination to further our understanding and learning during our maths lessons! We have also been improving our arithmetic skills, week after week! Keep up the brilliant work Class 9!
Science
In science this term our unit was light and how we see things. During this unit we learnt all about how we see things and also about light. During this unit we had lots of opportunities to take part in experiments linked to light and sight.
We also took part in National Science week, where we were tasked to create a bridge which held the most amount of weight! We used the school values of collaboration and resilience to ensure our bridges were best suited.
Art
During this half term our focus has been on Art. During this topic we explored the great artists of Jean-Michel Basquiat and Mark Rothko. In our lessons we have experimented with different mediums including water colours and acrylic paints. We have learnt all about the different colour types and used these to create our own colour wheel based on the colours Mark Rothko used in his artwork. Our final outcome was too produce a self portrait in the style of Jean Michel Basquiat and Mark Rothko! We can’t wait to show these off during our art galley event after the half term!
