Traveling in Nova Scotia

One of 13 provinces and territories of Canada, Nova Scotia is a stunningly beautiful place to visit. Which we did with a group organized by Road Scholar this September. Normally, Autumn is a good time visit. The trees are turning colors and the weather is still mild. Unless of course you run into a powerful hurricane, which we did.

Fortunately we were able to exit after the storm passed and the airports reopened. Air Canada made a mess of things, but other than that we had an excellent time and enjoyed ourselves immensely. Some photos from our trip are presented below.

A Waterfront Town on Briar Island
We got a chance to do some whale watching
One of the whales, his face covered with white barnacles, came right up to the boat we were in
We drove along the famous Cabot's Trail
And we went to Peggy's Point to see the lighthouse
We hiked a bit in Cape Breton National Historic Park
And in the Forest

All in all we had an excellent time and got to learn some of the history around Nova Scotia. The hurricane that hit while we were there was hurricane Fiona, which as it turns out, was a Category 4 hurricane by the time in made landfall in Nova Scotia. It was also the most intense and costliest in record. But aside from some rather minor inconvenciences things were just fine and we had an excellent trip. Highly recommended if you get the chance to visit Nova Scotia.
