TIMES TABLES

Confidence in times tables is crucial for children to progress in their maths learning. There is a video guide to our school approach to multiplication on the maths page of our website which you can find by clicking here.

Please support your child in practising times tables as much as possible at home. Please note that in Year 4 children take a national multiplication tables check in June. This year it will take place in the three weeks from Monday 6th June. Children can practise at home by logging in to Times Tables Rockstars and should be doing so regularly.

NEW YEAR GOALS

When returning to school in the New Year, children thought carefully about New Year's resolutions and why people make them. Every child set themselves two New Year's resolutions - a goal for their learning and one about the environment to work towards. They are displayed together in the entrance.

CHANGE TO GATE OPENING TIMES

Please note that from Monday 24th January, the gates will be opened at 3.20pm rather than 3.15pm. This is to help us gain back some time within school each day. Please do not arrive earlier than 3.20pm from Monday to avoid crowding.

TESTING CHANGES

Just a reminder that as of 11th January, confirmatory PCR tests following a positive lateral flow device (LFD) test result are temporarily suspended. This means that anyone who receives a positive LFD test result will be required to self-isolate immediately and will not be required to take a confirmatory PCR test. Click the button below to read the full details.

Please remember that LFD tests are for those without Covid-19 symptoms only. Please book a PCR test if you or your child displays any of the following:

  • a high temperature – this means your child may feel hot to touch on their chest or back (you do not need to take their temperature with a thermometer)
  • a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if they usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)
  • a loss or change to their sense of smell or taste – this means they may tell you that they cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different.

To book a free PCR test, visit the NHS website or phone the NHS on 119.

You can book a test at a testing site, or by asking for a home testing kit to be sent in the post.
