Every year, the Caravan of Central American Mothers of Disappeared Migrants, journeys through Central America and Mexico looking for their children. Rather than accept the grim circumstances of their survival in Honduras as their only reality, these women hope for a better future for themselves and their loved ones. They put their hope and faith into action by looking for their lost loved ones. Similar to these Mothers, el Pueblo Hondureño (Honduran People) must have faith and hope in a restored Honduras. Hopefully, the Caravan of Central American Mothers of Disappeared Migrants inspires el Pueblo Hondureño to continue to strive and demand change.
Migrants often experience cruel injustices such as being discriminated against, beaten, and/or murdered. This mural at Hogar Refugio calls for safe and just measures for those traveling to the border.
Mothers wear images of their sons in hopes that someone recognizes them and provides information about their whereabouts. They chant "¡VIVOS LLEGARON, VIVOS LOS QUEREMOS!"
After a mother's long effort to find her missing son, they are finally reunited and share an embrace.
