SchoolPass App for Parents and Students
Ransom Everglades uses SchoolPass, an online tool designed to enable parents to:
- set up a transportation plan for your child
- manage and report absences, early pickups, and late arrivals
- self-manage authorized drivers for student pickup
- help the school prepare for an organized and timely dismissal process
This document outlines how Ransom Everglades has configured the SchoolPass software to fit the needs of our community on both the upper and middle school campuses. You should be on the latest app release for all functionality to work (v23.24.1 or higher).
Helpful Tips and Getting Started
Functions of the SchoolPass app work best when the operating system of your mobile device is up to date.
Be sure to install or update the latest version of the SchoolPass parent app. Search for "School Pass" within the app store for your mobile device and then select the download option -- you know you are on the latest version of the app if you only see the option to "open" the app within the app store. If prompted during the installation to enable location finding, please do so. The functions for drop-off and pickup are enabled through geolocation.

Logging In to the SchoolPass Parent App
Your email account on file with the school is your SchoolPass login ID. If you have a Gmail address or Apple Mail account registered with the school, you can use the social login buttons.
Using a non-Gmail account? Click here for a demonstration on getting started with the SchoolPass app.
If you have children at multiple schools using SchoolPass, be sure to select "Ransom Everglades School (6850)" when communicating about your RE student.
Reviewing Your Profile
The profile section of the SchoolPass app serves these purposes:
- access to a user-specific QuickPin for scanning purposes,
- informing the school of the family vehicles that may drive on-campus,
- setting the methods by which the school should notify you,
- review the contact information the school has on file for use within the app.

Setting Up Notifications
In rare circumstances, Ransom Everglades will use SchoolPass as a backup form of communication if necessary for immediate correspondence. Communication will be transmitted by email and, if the parent, student, or faculty member opts in, by SMS text messaging.
To opt in, one must turn on SMS Notifications within the individual's profile under the app's notifications. Additionally, the individual should confirm the correctness of the mobile number found in their SchoolPass profile. If incorrect, please contact the school so that updates can be made in myCOMPASS. This information is synced nightly with SchoolPass.
Registering a Vehicle
To enhance student safety and campus security, Ransom Everglades will be monitoring campus arrivals and departures using technology incorporating automated license plate recognition cameras.
All parents and student drivers are expected to register vehicles within SchoolPass to assist with morning arrival, afternoon dismissal, and campus safety during school activities.
Follow these instructions to register your vehicle within the SchoolPass app.
Registered vehicles of parents, students, and faculty/staff will be automatically identified. Security personnel will be notified when unregistered vehicles arrive on campus; drivers of unregistered vehicles will be reviewed as unannounced visitors on campus.
Adding Authorized Drivers
Parents must authorize additional drivers for picking up or dropping off a student. While optional, a photo is helpful in identifying the driver in addition to registering the vehicle's license plate.
Click here for a SchoolPass tutorial on adding and removing authorized drivers.
To begin the registration of an authorized driver, click on the "Drivers" icon on the bottom dashboard of the SchoolPass app:
What is an ABSENCE?
An "absence" occurs when the student will be missing class. Depending on the circumstances, parents are to report absences either as "absent," "late arrival," or "early pickup."
NOTE: The Student Handbook overrides any instructions presented in these tutorials. For instance, planned absences must be submitted to the Dean of Students seven days before the absence occurs rather than through SchoolPass.
Absent the Entire Day
If a student is absent the entire day, parents use the SchoolPass app to notify the school before the start of school on the date of absence. Upon opening the app, click the "+" sign on the bottom menu and then choose the "ABSENT" option.

Arriving Late, Missing a Class Obligation
A parent must notify the school through the SchoolPass app prior to the start of the school day if a student is to miss a class obligation for an entire period or a portion of a period.
Parents use the "late arrival" option on the SchoolPass app to notify the school of the date, expected late arrival time, and reason for the late arrival.
Click here for the "How to Report a Late Arrival" tutorial.
When arriving on campus to drop off the student, the parent should use the "drop off" option in the app to notify the school that the student is now on campus.
Click here for the "SchoolPass Drop Off" tutorial.
When physically arriving on campus, students must sign in at the front desk kiosk to receive the official time-stamp receipt before proceeding to class.
Departing Early, Missing a Class Obligation
A parent must notify the school through the SchoolPass app at the earliest known time prior to leaving school early if the departure time causes the child to miss a class obligation.
Parents use the "early pickup" option on the app to alert the school of the pickup date, time, and reason. The parent should also indicate whether the student is returning to school.
Click here for the "How to Report an Early Pickup" tutorial.
When arriving on campus to pick up the student, the parent uses the "pick up" option on the app to notify the school of the pending departure.
Click here for the "Arrival on Campus for Early Pickup" tutorial.
Prior to leaving campus, the student must sign out at the front desk kiosk to receive the official time-stamped departure slip. This slip is to be presented to the guard on duty at the front gate before exiting campus.
When a student returns to campus, the parent uses the SchoolPass app to notify the school of the drop off time and the student again checks in at the front desk kiosk.
Student Arrival
To account for every student's presence on campus, students are asked to sign in with the SchoolPass app and/or the classroom attendance scanners.
If arriving late for a class obligation, students must use the front desk kiosk. Otherwise, students will use the classroom attendance scanner at their first classroom location to sign in.
Using the QR code on their student ID, the student "taps in" to the SchoolPass kiosk. After tapping in, the student is now identified as being "on campus" in the event an emergency occurs.
Student Early Departure
When departing school early, only seniors may use the SchoolPass app to sign out. All other students must sign out using the front desk kiosk when departing school early and collect the time-stamped exit ticket. Students in grades 6 - 11 must present a printed SchoolPass exit ticket along with their physical student ID card in order to leave campus. Seniors may present their physical student ID after signing out within the geofence school area.
