Note from our Head
There is just a short message from me this week to enjoy the weekend despite the wet and wild conditions. And well done to all the children for such a happy and positive week at Oakfield.
All our best to Mr Bower from staff and pupils alike for taking on the London Marathon with a difference this weekend, as well as leading the fundraising efforts for Place2Be. You can do it!
Take care everyone,
Moyra Thompson
PLACE2BE FUNDRAISER
MR BOWER MARATHON / INSIDE OUT JUMPER & ODD SOCKS
THANK YOU to everyone for getting into the spirit today, wearing odd socks and helping me raise a lot of money for Place2Be. The final count (thank you very much School Council) will be announced next week. Looking out the window this morning I felt a little 'inside out' but am remaining positive as I have never run in a real storm before!
If you would like to follow me online on Sunday it is an 8am start. Go onto the Official London Marathon website app and put in my number 17648. My race route and timings can also been found on my Virgin Money Giving page.
Here's to us all being different!
Mr Bower
UPPER FOUNDATION
Dear Parents/Carers,
This week we have been talking about countries the children come from, or have visited and shared postcards and family photos. We have also discussed the different seasons and how we can identify them. We have even written our own postcards, having looked at Barnaby Bear’s travels around the world.
We have started reading with the children this week and we hope you have a wonderful time this weekend sharing the books we have sent home with your child. Please record any comments you have in their reading records and return them on Monday morning. Over the weekend, please could you practise correct formation of your child’s name; including direction of letter formation.
With best wishes,
Miss Treppass and Mrs. Barrett Nnochiri

Year 1
Number bonds to 10
The year one children have been refreshing their memories on their number bonds to 10 and 20. They used a range of physical resources to help them including: Numicon, Unifix cubes, pegs, abaci and more! The children were challenged to recall their number bonds to 10 as quickly as possible!
Clubs and Activities
STEM
In STEM club the Year 1 children have been using their observational skills to explore the habitats of invertebrates.
We are very impressed with their focus, interest and knowledge of minibeasts.
