From Albany Road News & Updates from Deerfield Academy / November 19, 2021

Greetings, Friends—

Here we are in November! As most of you know, in the United States, this month is marked by thankfulness, gratitude, and appreciation.

At Deerfield, there is much to be thankful for; Thanksgiving Break began today at noon after a hugely successful Fall Term. Our campus community proudly touts a 97% full vaccination rate among students and employees, which helped us to navigate classes unmasked and stay healthy throughout our first term of the year.

This issue of From Albany Road showcases student life and accomplishments since September: from DA Radio to the Fall theater production. And last but certainly not least, we enjoyed a spectacular Choate Day on Saturday, November 13! Along with wins from multiple teams and many alumni visiting—including the Class of 1970 for their long-awaited 50th Reunion—it was a day to remember. Tomorrow, two varsity teams—volleyball and football—will participate in post-season play, and you are cordially invited to attend those games in person or via livestream (please see below for more information).

Speaking of invitations, please be sure to mark your calendars for our upcoming events: the Deerfield Academy Chamber Music Recital at Carnegie Hall and, of course, Reunions 2022. We hope to see you soon!

With gratitude and thanks,

Jenny B. Hammond P’15, Director of Alumni Relations

A Lesson in History

On Thursday, December 9, seniors Billy Kitchel '22 and Sara Robert '22 will interview Bob Dutton '70 and Charlie Trautmann '70 on the Door to Door podcast.

The show will run from 7:00 to 7:45 pm, and rumor has it that they will spend a good bit of time talking about the history of the radio station at Deerfield Academy.

Emma Reavis ’19

Emma Revis is a Deerfield Academy alumna from the Class of 2019. She currently attends Brandeis University where she serves as junior captain of the Brandeis women’s basketball program. Academically, Emma is pursuing a double major in Business and Economics, and this summer she will be participating in the 2022 Citigroup Sales and Trading Rotational Summer Analyst Program in New York City.

This interviewed was hosted by Avery Izzo '24 and Bailey Miller '24 and was featured on this month's Door to Door podcast.

Fall Theater Production

"Back Stage Pass"

This month, Deerfield students presented Rumors, one of Neil Simon's most celebrated comedies. This play focuses on four couples who gather to celebrate an anniversary. Chaos, and much hilarity, ensue as the evening disintegrates into an outrageous and topsy-turvy romp.

Enjoy these photos from behind the scenes!
