Where is Dubai situated?

Dubai is located in the UAE which stands for the united Arabia Emirates .dubai also sits in the Persian gulf.

There are some benefits of being in the Middle East such as: the are in the middle they will get many traders, business men and women and just people who stop off for a week there. They will get much of there money from this as the businesses people will be staying and spending money at this very well developed country..

The businesses

The history of Dubai.

The changes from two times

Dubai was over a sandy desert with no form of life near, now you can't get away from people, houses, skyscrapers and money. How has this little desert transformed into one of the biggest and most popular tourist destinations in the world? The answer is oil. In 1978!they found large reserves of oil in Abu Dhabi, which sourced 10% of the worlds oil, and added on an extra $400 billion onto their GDP. However in 2010 Dubai isn't very oil rich only 1% of Dubai's economy was from oil sales. So why are they so rich?? Well Dubai and the whole of the UAE has a historical relationship with the U.K. Who granted them western investments and partnerships. In 2000 the international credit boom helped solidify its place in the UAE. Foreign investments brought in money for them to make the worlds largest sky scraper, the largest resort and also a a series of man made islands.

Due to these amazing buildings and attractions it brought in many tourists retail and sales. It was ranked the 5th most popular tourist destination.

The most popular tourist destinations are:

Palm islands

Built in 2001 the Palm island consists of one trunk with 16 leaves and a break water aloud the outside to protect the middle from the harsh waters. It took 5 years to build people started moving in in 2006. However this isn't just a tourist destination that has bought in thousands of pounds it is a engineering break in history bring the frost man made island made out of sand.

The Burj Khalifa( worlds tallest building

Construction on the Burj Khalifa started in September 2001 and opened in 2010. It is the tallest structure in the work standing at 829.8 m. It has 163 floors and cost Dubai 1.5 billion USD.

Global village

Global Village is the leading family cultural, shopping and entertainment destination in the region, with a unique shopping experience at 32 pavilions representing more than 75 countries with different cultures. It is known as the biggest tourist attraction in the region.

Wild wadi water theme park

The water park was opened in August 1999. And is still bringing in millions of tourists. The park has hundreds or rides and attractions and also a free house.

How are tourists helping?

Tourists are helping by bringing in millions of pounds just from attractions, hotels and food. With 873,000 guests at the top of the chart with uk in third with 643,000 guests. This will help them a lot with there sudden development it has meant they are able to save this money and build more attractions. In 2011 Dubai hit its peak amount of money from tourism which was $4.36 billion. Tourism is helping them develop by giving them money to build more and more attractions, buildings and business's. More opportunity for work and more tourists for the future.

Sustainable development

Sustainable development is when it meets the social, economic, and environmental needs of people and the environment. As we know Dubai has changed a lot since 1970 from a desert to a billion pound worth country with record breaking building and people. But how sustainable is it?? Dubai spends a lot of money on houses, skyscrapers and businesses but can it sustain this spending? With Dubai being on the coast it was used to a lot of trade from boats where it gained a lot of money this still happens today from the big boats who need to stop over a night and deliver some goods this is the economic side as they are able to sustain there spending by saving it as if a natural disaster where to happen they will have a safe amount of money for this. The social needs of people is often hard as many people have different thought and interpretations of places and buildings. So far a lit if the people,e who live in Dubai are business men and women there fore they will agree with the building of large businesses. The environmental needs are also hard with a developing country with millions of cars and industries they will need to keep up with the needs of the changing global warning state.
