Less Homework Less Stress Why High School Teachers Should Assign Less Homework

With less homework and a goal to obtain good grades students are more likely to pay attention in class

Can I Have Your Attention Please!

With less homework being a factor in the life of a high school student, more students are likely to pay close attention in class. The instructor has the advantage to make it known to the class that they are to retain the information and understand it in order to have homework reduced. In doing so, the students will need to pay attention and truly retain the information the teacher gives in order to receive a decent grade. This technique not only promotes attentiveness in the classroom but also promotes a positive teacher-student relationship. In opposition one may argue that homework outside of the classroom promotes practice and hands-on techniques to help the student learn. Homework does indeed accomplish the element of practice by promoting the student

Students will not have to put their social lives on hold due to the fact they are obligated to complete their homework

Social Shock

The stress that many students feel has placed a large strain on many aspects in their life. High school students do in fact need to be challenged but not to the point of causing them to live a hectic life all the time. Many students put activities and quality time with their friends on hold in order to complete their many homework assignments. There have been countless students that compromise their sleep in order to finish their homework or cram for a test that wreaks havoc and stress on a developing student.

Students can spend more quality time with their family seeing as they do not have homework to complete every night

Family is Forever

Reducing homework not only brings positive effects into the school aspect but also in the home life of a student. Assigning hours of homework a night puts a massive strain on the student to not only succeed in school but to put their home life on hold in order to do so. It is necessary for a student to have a good parent-child relationship in order to better their future home life. Homework does indeed help with allowing students to involve their parents in their schoolwork. In doing so, the teacher must create a proper work load that will help improve and manage the student's relationship with their parent.

Without the stress of homework students can learn better time management and be proud of their accomplishments

Amazing Accomplishments

Homework does indeed serve several beneficial aspects but it needs to be handled and assigned in the proper manner. Many teachers promote homework as a means of allowing the student to practice and participate in learning the curriculum. Homework can increase organizational skills as well as promote a more hands-on learning technique that can be useful later in their academic career. The main issue that students have had trouble dealing with has been the total amount of homework. It's not to say that homework does not serve a beneficial purpose because it does, but creating manageable work for such things creates a more achievable goal for the student.

Learning time management and academic discipline in high school can prepare students for their journey in college

On to the Next Journey!

High school students need to prepare for the long journey ahead in college and they need to feel as though they can accomplish their goals and succeed in every aspect of school. Homework cannot wreak total havoc on every aspect of their lives which in many cases it does due to the copious amounts. A sole purpose of high school is to prepare students for the challenging journey they will experience in college. The work load in college is much more challenging and meticulous. A high school student with a reduced homework load may realize that they can compensate for less homework by studying more and managing their time more efficiently. Learning these tasks are necessary for college; therefore, time management in high school will more than prepare the high school student for the challenges in college.
