About David

I am a senior student pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance at California State University, Fullerton. I am expected to graduate in May 2023. I have been to many countries and met many interesting people. I served in the Navy as an Aviation Boatswain's Mate and became an Operation Specialist reservist. I have tried different jobs before I found I am passionate about investment. So I started self-learning finance in the CFA program on my last deployment. I passed the level 1 exam after my last deployment and passed level 2 in February 2022. I enjoy thinking and making financial models for solving real-world problems. Hopefully, my next adventure will be an MBA at the University of Southern California and Navy Officer Candidate School. I will be seeking a career in asset management. Meanwhile, besides my finance job, I want to be a reserve Navy officer. I plan to take the CFA level 3 exam in the foreseeable future.

Experience Highlights

Titan Capital Management

Investment Analyst (May 2022 - Present)

I worked alongside 15 other analysts in this position and actively managed three portfolios. As an equity analyst, I research and organize information for the economy, industry, and company. Based on my research and analysis, I filter out market noise and give useful investment recommendations for the Information Technology sector. I utilize the knowledge I learned from financial courses, the CFA Program, and the skills I learned from TCM Bootcamp to apply value investment concepts.

U.S. Navy

Aviation Boatswain's Mate Petty Officer (Nov 2014 - Nov 2019)

During my career in the Navy, I led a crew of 5 to 10 sailors in two deployments, and we provided direct support to airstrike missions against ISIS. As the most qualified junior petty officer, I was assigned the responsibility to maintain multi-million dollar equipment onboard an amphibious assault LHD class ship and provide on-the-job training for unqualified junior sailors. The nature of our job required us to work extended hours under pressure and maintain work quality. During the deployment, we were part of the 5th fleet in charge of the Middle East area. Other times we have been to disaster relief operations in Florida and Puerto Rico and visited several port cities, including New York, for fleet week. We are the first responders to our nation's call.

Windchi LLC

Founder, Manager (Jan 2018 - Dec 2018)

I found this small business when I was in the Navy but relaxed at home port. When I discovered the rising market needs and I had the resources needed to address the needs, I determined it was a good time to start my own side business. I worked along with another two partners for almost one year. As the manager, I oversee daily operations and analyze data and feedback from workers to improve efficiency. I actively develop expansionary projects and search for external resources to implement vertical and horizontal integrations. I set daily, weekly, and monthly goals, delegate tasks to each worker, and track progress. I improved our profitability three times in as little as twelve months. It was a great trial since it was my first business despite success or failure. From this experience, I learned many skills as a business leader and a pioneer; I have also learned my strengths and weaknesses, which gave me direction and guidance.

United Service Organizations

Volunteer (Jan 2015 - Feb 2015)

While attending Naval Air Technical School, I worked as a volunteer, providing services to active and reserved military personnel in USO facilities in Florida.

Wondries Toyota

Sales Representative (May 2013 - Oct 2013)

I worked as a sales representative at Wondries Toyota in Alhambra, CA. I could quickly grasp sales concepts and skills and adapt to the work environment. I led a three-person sales team that provided customers with three language services: English, Spanish, and Chinese. Work efficiency was maximized in our team.

Chinese Student & Alumni Association

Advisor (Jan 2012 - Mar 2013)

As an advisor in the association, I advise and solve students' problems relating to their studies, visa, travel, and life. I also communicate with universities and colleges in California for student affairs and connections. I make plans and lead students for offline activities in local areas such as sports, social and music events.

Sierra College

Math Tutor (Jun 2011 - Oct 2011)

I was a math tutor at Sierra College in Rocklin, CA. I stayed in the math center and provided one-on-one tutoring to college students in the areas of algebra, trigonometry, and pre-calculus.
