Dear University community,
Our next Dusty Camp for Orientation is this Thursday and Friday. We’re excited to welcome new students to TAMIU!
- Find out more on Dusty Camp here.
- If you’re heading outdoors during peak heat periods, please stay hydrated and apply sunscreen regularly. Light-colored, loose-fitting clothing and hats provide additional protection during this record-breaking heatwave.
- Registration for Fall 2023 is underway. The Fall Semester begins Monday, Aug. 28.
- Tuition and fees remain frozen for the third year in a row, helping you to save as you pursue your degree. Here are the details.
- We’re looking ahead to the addition of two new degrees to TAMIU’s undergraduate degree inventory: Clinical Lab Sciences and Occupational Therapy. Both are cornerstones in the new Health Sciences Education and Research Center, green-lighted by the A&M Board of Regents last March, along with the expansion of the campus’ Western Hemispheric Trade Center. We’ll start construction later this year.
- Did you or anyone you know participate in a Reading the Globe program over the past 15 years? We’re about to celebrate the program’s 15th Anniversary and we’d like to hear from our RTG alums about their experience to share with others. Find out more.
- Looking for a free COVID-19 Testing Kit? Get yours at the offices of Student Health, and in lobby/reception areas in Environmental Health and Safety (inside our Physical Plant) and the University Police Department.
Keep Cool Dustdevils!

TAMIU Gets New Degrees, Tuition Freeze with Governor's Approved Budget
Recently signed legislation approved a record $1.19 billion in new spending for The Texas A&M University System, including money to freeze undergraduate tuition and fees for Texas residents. At TAMIU, this has also created a path for two new degree programs in Clinical Lab Sciences and Occupational Therapy!
"While the start of the semester is always an exciting time at the University, this Fall we’ll be developing two new programs that we believe have tremendous relevance for our area. Both are in the dynamic Health Sciences field and will be housed in our College of Nursing and Health Sciences. We expect to begin offering coursework in Fall 2024."
