Franklin Graham was the son of the famous evangelist Billy Graham He grew up in a home strongly influenced by Christianity although he made a profession of faith at the age of 22.

Franklin Graham attended LeTourneau College until he was expelled for keeping a woman out past her curfew. He then went to Bob Jones University and transferred to Florida Bible Institute after one year at Bob Jones.

Franklin Graham began his mission work with Dr. Bob Pierce, the founder of Samaritan's Purse, when they took a six week trip to Asia. He continues his mission work now through the Samaritan's Purse(CEO as of 1979) and Billy Graham Evangelistic Association(CEO as of 2001). The Samaritan's Purse has missions all across the world. Operation Christmas Child is very well known for distributing gifts and teaching the Bible to less fortunate children in other countries. The Samaritan's Purse is also known for providing aid via field hospitals and other things of that source.

Franklin Graham has been awarded by some of the highest honors possible for someone of his standing. Franklin and his wife, Jane, were co-awardees of the Congressional gold medal given by Bill Clinton in 1996. He was also granted honorary knighthood by the British government.
