The Weston Weekly January 22, 2022

Good Afternoon. Wednesday was our 100th day of school! We celebrated at the 100th minute of the day. Mrs. Bennett, P.E. teacher, led the entire school in some physical activities to celebrate.

High School Community Service Project:

We are partnering with a group of GC high school students. If you have plastic grocery bags at home, they will gladly take them. Feel free to send them into Weston with your student. Please see the flyer below for more information.

Just a reminder that our next e-learning day is on February 14th. Students will NOT be on site for school. Teachers will provide students with lessons via Seesaw or Google Classroom and will have office hours during the day. With the remainder of the day, teachers will be participating in building and districtwide professional development. As soon as the schedule is finalized, be on the lookout for office hours in teacher newsletters.

February 21st: President’s Day (No School/Weather Make-up Day)

Virtual Learning Information & Recess Temperature Guidelines

2-Hour Delay Schedule:

In the event of a 2-hour delay, the school doors will open at 9:20. The tardy bell rings at 9:40. No breakfast is served on delay days.

Virtual Learning Day Schedule:

As winter weather is upon us, we would encourage you to plan ahead in the event of a school cancellation. Please be prepared to have your student on-line for live virtual instruction with their classroom teacher at 9:00 AM. Your teacher will communicate a daily schedule with you in the event that in-person learning is canceled for a virtual learning day.

Cold Temperatures:

Recess: As the weather turns colder, please ensure your student is dressed appropriately for outdoor recess.

We will also use these temperature guidelines for car line. Students will remain inside the building. This may extend the time of car line dismissal, but will also ensure out students remain safe & warm.

Covid - 19 Updates

COVID Update

The Indiana State Department of Health has permitted us to accept home tests for documentation. We can only accept positives for home tests, not negatives. In addition, for a home test to be accepted as documentation for a 90 day window pass (if these don't go away), you will need to send us a photograph of the positive test that also includes the student's name and test date.

Seussical Musical: We are very excited to announce auditions for our summer 2022 musical, Seussical the Musical! This will be our first production in a few years in which there will be roles for both adults and children and we would love to have a good turn-out of Hancock county residents. We are very much looking forward to this production and would love to see you all there, whether on-stage or out in the audience! Thank you!

  1. All roles are open and available.
  2. Leads will be filled by adults, but ensemble roles are open for students age 10-18. We will also need a small group of dancers only.
  3. Be prepared to sing 16-32 bars or a verse and chorus of a Broadway song (not from this show). Bring PRINTED music in the key you want to sing in. No acapella singing or singing with tracks. Also, prepare to dance a short routine.
