At tonight's meeting, the Board of Education will review a weapons detection monitoring system to add another layer to keep students and staff safe. Further information is to come in October once approved.

Our new elementary staff from across the district gathered to participate in our PYP Bootcamp training to learn some of the basics of the Primary Years Programme. Midland Public Schools PYP Coordinators provide this training as a precursor to their formal IB training that will take place this winter. Staff members learned about inquiry-based strategies and fundamental elements within the PYP framework. We are excited to have the new staff energy be a driving force as we embark on almost a decade of our PYP journey!

Ms. Cooper's 1st-grade class had fun creating solar ovens last week! They tested out many different ways and enjoyed eating the marshmallows at the end. It was tough to cook when the sun went away, and the wind picked up, but they learned solar cooking is not easy and depends on the weather and sun!

Last week was Chef Appreciation Week! The success of Compass relies on all its heroes behind the food. We celebrate the hard work Chef Jake does every day to positively impact the well-being of our program and team here at Midland Public Schools.

Representative Annette Glenn and AT&T dropped off several backpacks full of classroom supplies for MPS students. Thank you for being so supportive of MPS students!

Class of 2023 Graduation

As in years past, this year's graduations are set to take place at Dow Diamond on Wednesday, May 24, with Dow High's ceremony beginning first.
