Volleyball Tops Hamilton, Husson for a 2-1 Week

Colby took on the Eagles from Husson on Wednesday night to begin their stretch of three matches in four days. Topping Husson 3-0, Colby was led by Jenny Slaveck with 11 kills.

Friday night marked the only setback on the week for the Mules. The first two sets could have gone either way, but Williams College held close leads and eventually took the match in three sets (25-23, 25-21, 25-15).

Saturday provided another even match, but this time it was the Mules who were able to put away their opposition, topping Hamilton College 3-0 (25-23, 29-27, 25-19). Hannah Wyllie returned to the lineup and led the team with 14 kills.

Colby is now 8-6 and ranked 8th in NESCAC.

First-year Bella Schumacher had seven Service Aces on the week, including a season-high four in a win over Hamilton. She ranks second on the team with 21.

Men's Tennis Records 9 Wins in Tournament, Henry Wins B-Flight

The Mules played in the Wallach Invitational, a two-day tournament hosted by Bates College. Winning an impressive nine matches, Colby hung around all the way to the end in the elimination style event.

Sam Henry won four matches on his own, defeating players from Bates, Skidmore, and two from Tufts on his way to earning the crown in the Singles B-Flight. Other single-match victories came from Max Schuerrman, Sriram Das, James Bogdanovic, Josh Kaplan, as well as the doubles team of Bogdanovic/Kaplan.

This concludes the fall season for the Men's Tennis team.

Sophomore Sam Henry won four matches this weekend on his way to becoming the winner of the Singles B-Flight at the Wallach Invitational.

Men's Soccer Falls in OT to Bowdoin, Tough on Road at Williams

Colby hosted Bowdoin Tuesday night on the turfed Bill Alfond Field. Down 1-0 at half, the Mules answered the tally with one of their own scored by Paul Hawkins at the 65-minute mark. Bowdoin was able to pull out the victory 2-1, scoring five minutes into overtime. Colby held the advantage throughout the game in shots (17-10) and corner kicks (9-3).

Visiting the Ephs of Williams College Saturday, the hosts turned up the heat right before half with two goals in 15 minutes. The 2-0 score at half would prove to be the final.

Colby is now 4-5-1 on the season, ranked 9th in NESCAC.

Senior Paul Hawkins scored the game-tying goal against Bowdoin Tuesday night to force overtime. The score was his second on the season.

Bowdoin/Williams Hold of Young FH Team

Starting four first-years and six sophomores against Bowdoin Tuesday night on Bill Alfond Field, the young Mules battled as hard as they have all season. Bowdoin pulled out to a 3-0 lead at the half, but Colby refused to quit, going score for score in the second half. With the 5-2 win, the Polar Bears are in a stretch of eight wins in their last nine games.

Making the trip to Williamstown, Mass. on Saturday, Colby ran into an Eph team that peppered the Colby net. Goalkeeper Emily Loeb turned away a season-high 15 shots to help keep the Mules within reach. Williams held the advantage in penalty corners 9-1, and came away with a 5-0 victory.

The Mules are now 4-4 on the season, ranked 8th in NESCAC.

First-year Mya Salazar scored her first collegiate goal Tuesday night against the Polar Bears.

Women's Soccer Keeps Pace With Ephs Early, Fall in 2nd Half

Colby traveled to face the Williams College Ephs for Homecoming, and battled toe to toe for the first 45 minutes. Despite a deficit in shots and corners (7-1 and 5-0 respectively), Colby kept the score knotted at 0 after the first half. Goalkeeper Ashley Boardman had four saves in the first 45 to keep the Mules within striking distance.

With three second-half goals, Williams was able to pull ahead and secure a 3-0 victory.

Colby is now 3-4-2 overall, ranked 11th in NESCAC.

Ellie Hankin was part of the defensive unit that thwarted five first half corners and seven first half shots from the Williams attack.

Williams Outpaces Colby with 28-point 2nd Quarter

Visiting the Williams College Ephs on Homecoming, Williams powered through a 28-point second quarter on their way to a 42-0 win.

Williams connected for a 45-yd touchdown on its third play from scrimmage, and pressed the Mules all afternoon. A bright spot early on was Javon Williams' first interception of the season, also proving the first against Williams quarterback Bobby Maimaron of the season. The Ephs had nine different ball-carriers record a carry, and four different rushers found the end zone.

Defensively, Will Nipon and Nick Donatio each recorded nine tackles to lead the Mules, both season-highs. First-year running back Keon Smart has rushed 30 times for 120 yards over four games, and also has 14 receptions for 97 yards. His rushing tally ranks him 15th in the NESCAC, good for 2nd amongst first-years.

Colby is now 1-3, ranked 7th in NESCAC.

First-year Keon Smart is the 15th-ranked rusher in the conference with 30 carries for 120 yards across four games, one of only two first-years to appear on the list. He has also recorded almost 100 yards receiving on the year.
