A Word from our CEO

Dear friends and supporters:  Being Quality Trust’s CEO for the past four months has been an exciting time for me. My first priority was getting to know Quality Trust’s committed staff, who do the important work of supporting people with disabilities and their families, and our Board members, who advise us on our work. It has been a pleasure to hear their experiences, what drives them to do the work, and what their hopes and concerns are for the future of this amazing organization.

Navigating the multiple health, financial, and other challenges in our City and Country over the past two years has been difficult, but Quality Trust has persevered and come out stronger than before. We’ve continued our essential work monitoring the services people with developmental disabilities receive in DC, advocating for supported decision-making and other alternatives to guardianship, supporting people with disabilities and their families in the Latino American community, making peer connections for parents and caregivers through Family Ties of DC, and creating opportunities for people with developmental disabilities to advance, thrive, and live their best life possible.

While COVID required us to delay our annual Gala in both 2020 and 2021 so we could keep our staff, people with disabilities, and supporters safe, I’m honored to invite you to join Quality Trust on Sunday, October 2, 2022, from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., as we get back on the water for our “Cruisin’ for a Cause” Gala aboard the Odyssey Cruise ship at The Wharf. We cannot wait for the opportunity to see the people we support, their families, our Board of Directors, and each of you – our critical supporters – in person so we can share our gratitude for all we have been given and lived through with one another.

Of course, our continued success would not be possible without each of you and your contributions, belief in our mission, and shared commitment to people with disabilities and what we know they can accomplish. The funds raised from our Gala event will support all of our work to advocate for children and adults with developmental disabilities and their families.

Please be a part of our first in-person event since March 2020 by purchasing a ticket, donating an item or service for our silent auction or bottle of wine for our wine pull, or sponsoring the event. However, you choose to support Quality Trust; it is greatly appreciated and will make a difference in the lives of people with developmental disabilities in our communities.

I look forward to meeting or reconnecting on the boat in October. Thank you!

Shawn Ullman, CEO of Quality Trust for Individuals with Disabilities
