Holiday Foods You Should Be Enjoying on Christmas Day by: Chase Trigg

Every year, people eat the same foods around the holidays, whether it's tradition or something you just, certain foods come with Christmas attached. Here, we'll assess my personal top five Christmas foods.

At number five, candy canes are a fan favorite around the holidays. Whether they're free at your local grocery store or decorations for a gingerbread house, candy canes never disappoint. Although they barely classify as a food, probably more of a candy, it would be criminal to exclude them when talking about Christmas foods.
To some, pecan pie might not be a holiday special. However, pecan pie is actually a traditional Christmas dessert and one of my personal favorites. When done right, the pecans remain fresh and crunchy on the top, while the filling is gooey and sweet with chopped-up pecans. A flakey and buttery crust tops off an excellent Christmas special.
Although hot chocolate isn't necessarily directly related to Christmas, we can all agree: nobody is popping a Swiss Miss in the middle of July. A timeless winter drink that is enjoyed by people all over the world. No matter what continent you're on, if you go into a coffee shop you can always find hot chocolate. A necessity around wintertime, hot chocolate is the number three Christmas food.
Nothing screams Christmas more than decorating sugar cookies. Even though making cool designs is the most fun, perfectly made cookies are delicious. Chewy on the inside and hard on the outside, the correct amount of frosting can make these festive treats borderline irresistible.
Although it is possibly the most controversial number one Christmas food of all time, eggnog is good. A ridiculous statement for some, but the thick consistency combined with the perfect amount of spice makes for a perfect drink. I'm not sure how anyone would object to a cold glass of eggnog. To me, no argument against it is valid. The absolutely undefeated all-time Christmas food is eggnog, there is no question.
