Dear Phoenix Club Member,

My name is Zac Ervin, and I am a senior on the Men’s Basketball team. Last year, I graduated with a degree in Project Management, and I am now working on my graduate degree in Business Analytics. Thanks to generous donors like you, I can pursue my dream of playing basketball at this incredible university.

I have grown so much as a person in the past four years here at Elon, both on and off the court. The experiences I have had here have shaped me, and I will cherish the memories I’ve made for the rest of my life. Looking back, I can't imagine spending my college years anywhere else, but that doesn’t mean everything has gone exactly as I planned either. I have had to battle multiple season ending injuries, a coaching change, and the ups and downs of being a student- athlete. I may have had a difficult road, but I now realize that’s life. It's all about how you respond to adversity and rise to the challenge. Without my athletic scholarship, I would have never been able to have these experiences, which have ultimately made me into a much more well-rounded person who is ready to tackle any future obstacles that may come my way.

After Elon, my goal is to play professional basketball and see the world. I do know; however, the ball will stop bouncing for me sooner or later, which is why I’m so grateful to have an Elon education. I plan to use my degrees to pursue a career in the business world and make a positive change in this world.

I can’t thank you enough for helping student-athletes like me live out our dreams. You have directly impacted our lives in a way that is impossible to repay. Without you, I would not be where I am today and your belief in Elon student-athletes means more than you could ever imagine.
