Dec. 13, 2021 — Playing volleyball for the first time in grade school, senior outside hitter Kaitlyn Boelter-Eberhardt, continued to play volleyball due in large part to her volleyball coach pushing her to be better.

“I started playing volleyball in grade school and my coach at the time got me into club volleyball because her daughter was also part of the club team and knew if I joined the team it would make the team better, but also make me a better volleyball player.” said Boelter-Eberhardt

When asked about her favorite memories Boelter-Eberhardt has had playing volleyball here, Kaitlyn had this to say.

“I wouldn’t say I just have one favorite memory from volleyball. It was awesome to win a conference game for the first time in a long time. I’m going to miss hanging out with my teammates, because they were a big reason why I love the sport.”

Kaitlyn said she had many role models while playing volleyball, but no two people meant more to her than teammates Claire Vrabec and Kaylee Allensworth

“From North Central, women that were my role models were Claire Vrabec and Kaylee Allensworth because they were really great leaders and helped me realize that there is much more in life than just volleyball.”

Injuries played a role during her time here at North Central and Boelter-Eberhardt shared how overcoming the injury made her a stronger human-being.

“I tore my ACL and meniscus in the middle of my freshman year and I felt really good at the time because I was playing really well and contributing a lot to the team. So when I was recovering I struggled menatally coming back to the sport because I never felt the same from before the tear. Coming back from the injury though made me stronger knowing that I can overcome that adversity in my life.”

Looking towards the future, Boelter-Eberhardt is already currently applying to law schools in the midwest.

“I’m currently applying to law schools based in Chicago, Wisconsin, Michigan, and the midwest in general and I am not 100% sure what route I want to go, but business law definitely interests me.”

Over her four year career, Boelter-Eberhardt played in 47 career matches, had 426 kills, 187 digs, 82 total blocks, and had 493 points. She had a career high 25 kills against Nebraska Wesleyan on October 18th, 2019. On that same day she recorded 18 digs, which was also a career high. When asked about her time here, she couldn’t have been happier playing for four years.

It has definitely had its ups and downs, but I’m really happy being the only senior left with Jordan Miller to stick with it for four years. I embraced the leadership role that came along with being an upperclassman especially with having so many underclassmen on the team.

“After a year of knowing about North Central I had finally decided to take a visit to the campus and I visited during the fall and it was so beautiful on campus that I knew that North Central was the place for me. I love the atmosphere of the college. It's really nice to know almost everyone on campus and to not just be a number in the classroom to professors.”
