Thank you to Ms O'Donovan & Ms Barry for their guidance in preparing the girls for Confirmation. A big thank you to Fr. Liam for his work with sixth class. Fr. Liam announced that he will be relocating from St. Brigid's Parish at the end of June. We thank him for all of his work with St. Brigid's GNS and wish him well in his new Parish.

Parents Association

Huge thank you to the PA for organising and running post-ceremony receptions in St. Brigid's Boys School and in the Parish Resource Centre. It was wonderful to be able to mix and mingle again as a school community and your commitment to facilitating this was very much appreciated by all. Thank you.

Initiatives & Visitors

Active Week

We had a fantastic Active Week which was jam packed with "Wake Up Shake Up", fencing, badminton, cricket, yoga, rugby, skipping, dancing, orienteering, dancing, dodgeball, frisbee, circuits & the super Junior Park Run in St. Annes. Thank you to all who took part and got involved. A very special thank you to Ms Howard who organised and led the events of the week and whose dedication to the wellbeing of our students through physical activity has earned us our third Active Flag!

Creative Schools Week

Diorama of Snow Leopards

We had our first Creative Schools Week this term led by the very creative, Ms Linda Flynn (thank you Ms Flynn) and our theme was Endangered Animals. Classes throughout the school created posters & dioramas of their endangered animal and this fabulous artwork was exhibited in the hall at the end of the week. The intercom was taken over by students reciting poems, rapping, sharing facts and singing songs which they created themselves. Many classes enjoyed engaging in drama workshops also.

Intercultural Day

We look forward to our Intercultural Day this Tuesday whereby we celebrate all the different cultures we are lucky to have in our school. This is often a highlight of the year as it exposes the wealth of diversity and culture we have in St. Brigid's. Students and their families from different countries/backgrounds/ethnicities share their customs and traditions as part of a hugely enriching learning experience. Thank you to Ms (Dr!) Concannon for organising and leading this very special event!

Dogs Trust

Our third and fourth classes will engage in workshops with Dogs Trust this month. These fun, interactive and child-centered workshops teach children about animal welfare and the responsibilities of owning a dog.

Parents

Following two years of restrictions we are delighted to welcome parents of Junior & Senior Infants into school, some of whom will be entering the building for the first or second time! Parents will get a chance to see their daughters in their classroom environment, meet their friends, their teachers and have a walk through the school. We very much look forward to meeting you!

Senior Infants' Parents Morning- Thursday 9th June

Junior Infants' Parents Morning- Friday 10th June

Music

Drumming Workshop

First & second classes will take part in a drumming workshop with Éammon Cagney later this month. Students will develop their hand-eye coordination along with their music and rhythm skills in an interactive setting. Following the workshop, drumming homework can be assigned for Saturday and Sunday mornings should parents wish!

Outreach Programme- Artane School of Music

Our fabulous third class students will perform with the Artane Band as part of their outreach programme this Wednesday 1st June. Third class have been learning to play the recorder under the direction of Emma Flynn. Emma is not only a superb trombone player in the Artane Senior Band but she is also a past pupil! We look forward to Wednesday when third class will get a chance to show off!

Choir

Fifth and sixth classes have commenced choir this term, singing first thing Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday mornings. What a joy to be able to engage in group singing again! The girls are currently working on a tribute to the magnificent Lin Manual Miranda and separately will be performing a Ukrainian folk song for their first performance on Intercultural Day.

As we approach the end of this academic year we'd like to thank you the parents, for your support and cooperation, in what has been a year full of change in St. Brigid's GNS. From the complete restructuring of our management team to navigations out of pandemic restrictions, we have asked a lot of our school community in terms of adaptability. However, we finish this year stronger, wiser, more positive and importantly-together. As a staff we recently looked at what our values are in St. Brigid's, what we wish for our departing sixth class girls and whatever direction life may take you girls, we hope you carry with you; kindness, honesty, integrity, respect and self-belief.
