2016 Eagles Playground Build Hamilton disston elementary school

DISSTON DREAM ZONE

Since 1997, the Eagles’ organization has teamed up with a Philadelphia school each year to build a safe, imaginative space for children to play. As buses arrived at Hamilton Disston Elementary School on the morning of May 18, the Eagles were already hard at work transforming the schoolyard at the team’s annual day of service.

THE BUILD COMMENCES

Large pieces of a large blue, yellow and green playground structure that was ready to be assembled allowed for the students, who ranged from kindergarten to eighth grade, to dream of the fun they will have once the project is complete. The school yard, once covered only by asphalt, now featured a green turf field and the brick schoolhouse was splashed with paint awaiting a makeover.

PLAYERS & COACHES ARRIVE

Following a morning of practice, the Eagles’ coaches and players arrived at Hamilton Disston Elementary in the early afternoon to help the rest of the organization complete the project.

THE FINISHED PRODUCT

Three-hundred Eagles staff members, players and coaches. Seventy gallons of primer. Ninety-three gallons of paint. Sixty gallons of sealer. One completed playground. Nine-hundred happy students and employees at Hamilton Disston Elementary School.
