The Siberian Tiger The amazing striped animals.

Meet the Beast

You've heard of tigers. You know they have stripes. You know they eat meat. You may know all these little things, but do you know more? Do you know their height? Do you know their diet? Do you want to know those things? Then keep reading.

The Tiaga

Habitat

The Siberian tiger lives in a habitat called the Tiaga. Tiaga means forest, in Russia. Many animals live in the Tiaga so the Siberian tiger is happy there.

The red area is the Tiaga.

Important Information

The Siberian tigers sciencetific name is Panthera Tigris Altaica. It's current status is endangered. The group the Siberian tiger is in is mammal and its population is around 400- 500. Its nickname is the Amur tiger.

Diet

The Siberian tiger is at the top of the food chain so it eats big animals like deer, wild pigs, hares, and even leopards! Tigers are obviously carnivores.

Food Chain

As I said before, the Siberian tiger is at the top of the food chain and at the bottom is the sun. The Siberian tiger eats the deer, the deer eats the grass and the grass gets energy from the sun. (Turn device vertically to get full picture)

Structural Adaptations

The Siberian tiger has lots of things in it's body that help them live the way they do. For example they have long, strong legs to help them jump through the forest. Some other things they have in their body that helps them is their stripes. The stripes help them camouflage in their habitat so they can sneak up on their prey. They have sharp teeth for chewing, a flexible backbone to also help him to jump, and lots of weight to knock their prey out. These animals need these structural adaptations to help them get food the way they do and live the way they do.

Behavioral Adaptations

Siberain tigers act they way they do. But how do they act? Siberian tigers are terretorial for one. And another cool thing is that they bite their prey in the neck like a vampire! Siberian tigers actually like to swim too! Siberian tigers are also nocturnal so they do their hunting in the night. And when Siberian tigers are born they become independent at the age of two.

Stats

The Siberian tiger can weigh about 396- 660 pounds. They weigh this much so they can throw their weight around and knock out their prey. The tigers can also grow up to ten feet! (Think of the tail if you don't believe it!).

Animal Group

The Siberian tigers animal group is mammal. They are mammals because they have fur and give birth.

Hibernate or Migrate?

Siberian tigers don't hibernate or migrate. Instead they live through the winter and eat other animals that also don't hibernate or migrate.

Timeline

Why are they endangered?

There are a lot of reasons why the Siberian tiger is endangered, but here are the main reasons: Logging, no food, mining, fires, poaching, road construction, and destruction of habitat. To stop this from happening we can basically just do the opposite and encourage others to do the same.

Bring up the population of the Siberian tiger! Wahoo!

What will happen if it goes extincted?

Oh, the answer to this question is really horrible. Very very horrible. But I must tell you anyway. So, if the Siberian tiger goes extincted, the population of the animals it eats will grow really high, then they will eat the food they eat to extinction, causing them to die of hunger, and so on. So to stop this from happening, Read the information above with the smiley face again and again. Then do that.

Life cycle

1 born 2 begins to eat soilids (6-8 weeks) 3 can come out of den (2 months) 4 knows how to hunt and live on own (18 months) 5 on their own (2.5 years) 6 keep living on own and reproduce (26 year) 7 die (sometime).

Interesting facts

Siberian tigers give birth to about 2-3 cubs. Baby tigers are called Cubs. Some tigers have white fur. The Siberian tiger is one of the few species left of the tigers!
