Double Joy FEBRUARY 5, 2023

In January we saw an explosion of students joining our community—God has been connecting us to students left and right! They're curious about faith and craving life-giving community. God has given us so much grace in leading our conversations, building trust, and helping us communicate with our Panamanian friends while we are learning Spanish.

We saw it, we heard it, and now we’re telling you so you can experience it along with us, this experience of communion with the Father and his Son, Jesus Christ. Our motive for writing is simply this: We want you to enjoy this, too. Your joy will double our joy! -1 John 1:3 (MSG)

Our motive is simple. Jesus transformed our lives and has given us inexplicable joy and we want that for the young people in Panama. As we build relationships with them, we are praying for boldness and opportunities to share the gospel.

Last year God connected us with two University of students, Heidy and Nuby, and last week they both rededicated their lives to following Jesus. This is the beginning of a life long journey of discipleship for Heidy and Nuby and our joy is doubled seeing this!

January Highlights

I experienced so much refreshment and joy at the Every Nation Campus conference in Orlando, Florida. God gave me clarity and direction for this year—to be devoted to him and his mission.
We started 2023 with a week of prayer, fasting and consecration with our global Every Nation family. My teammates Toffer, Lyka and I prayed for the University of Panama and for the lives of the students.
We had our first Every Nation Campus gathering where students had fun, heard an encouragement from the Bible and discussed in small groups. We are believing for salvation, miracles, and answered prayers at these gatherings.
A few of my teammates and I went with students to hike at sunrise at Cerro Chame, a few hours from the city. It was the hardest hike I've ever done but the view was worth it!
I celebrated my 24th birthday at the park playing volleyball with friends. God used the opportunity to celebrate to show his love as we continue to followup with the students!

Prayer Requests

God is listening to and answering your prayers! My Spanish is improving and my relationships are deepening with my Panamanian friends. Please continue to pray for:

  • Grace in learning Spanish. That I would learn it quickly so I can effectively connect and communicate with Panamanians.
  • Love and wisdom in my friendships with Allyson, Estefany, Caro, Ale, Nicole, Katerin, Nuby, Heidy, Hanna, Paola, and Abigail. That they would know and experience Christ’s love for them.
  • Small groups to start as we disciple students.
  • Our upcoming Discipleship Summit February 15-17. 90+ people from 9 nations will attend. Pray that the Panamanian students would be equipped and empowered to make disciples in every nation.
  • Our missions trip to Costa Rica March 19-23. The purpose of the trip is 1) to pray for and explore the campuses as we prepare for a future church plant in Costa Rica and 2) to empower the Panamanian student leaders to serve other nations.

Let me know if there's anything you'd like prayer for—I'd love to pray for you

Thank you for your partnership.

Your partnership makes a difference in helping young people know Jesus, become more like him, and walk in loving community.
