THE SUMMER SEND-OFF ICE CREAM SOCIAL IS this FRIDAY!

We're getting a great response for our first-ever Summer Send-Off Ice Cream social! Click here to register. We'll be scooping out Goody's ice cream in the field behind North (NOT at Goody's!!) on Friday, May 19, from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. The ice cream is free and you do not have to register to attend, but it would be really helpful if you could let us know (via Eventbrite) that you're coming so we'll have the right amount of ice cream. All North teachers, students and their families are welcome. Please spread the word to other North families!

Thanks to the North News for covering this event!

May Teacher appreciation

Thank you for all the individual ways you expressed appreciation to North teachers and staff over the last week. Food, flowers, gifts and notes all help build the North culture and acknowledge all the ways our teachers and administration contribute to a positive learning environment.

Thanks to your generosity through The Big Give, PTO was able to cater a Mediterranean lunch from Goodness Land which the teachers loved. Thank you for supporting our teachers through your giving. A special thanks to Hospitality Committee chairs Rosa and Becca for all they did to make the teachers feel special this school year.

NEXT YEAR'S PTO OFFICERS

We're all set for next year! At the last PTO meeting of the school year (see the May meeting minutes here), we voted on officers for the 2023-24 school year. Most of this year's officers are staying on for next year, and we have some new volunteers in new roles as well:

  • Co-Presidents: Paige Gustavsen, Annie Reeder
  • Co-Vice Presidents: Ellen Campfield Nelson, Julie Ouchley
  • Secretary and Assistant Secretary: Maggie Fullerton and Alicia Lee
  • Treasurer and Assistant Treasurer: Nola Walker and Kim Love
  • Hospitality: Rosa Urrutia and Becca Hayes and Lauren Pasley
  • Volunteer Coordinator: Susan Cornett
  • Fundraising: Debra Hodges

But there's still a spot for you! We have openings for:

  • Fundraising Co-Chair: responsibilities include managing The Big Give in February, coordinating 4-5 restaurant fundraisers and thinking creatively about raising money to support the PTO objectives.
  • School Events Coordinator: responsibilities include managing the Summer Send-Off Ice Cream Social at the end of the year, the Back-to-School Barbecue, and other community building events throughout the school year.
  • Communications: responsibilities include social media, the weekly PTO newsletter and overall communications strategy.

Any of these positions can be divided in ways that make it more manageable, or you can convince a friend to join you and share a role. Want to play a supporting role but don't want to be in charge? We'd love your help! Email us at njhPTO@gmail.com and let us know you're interested.

team days

Team Days are this week! On Wednesday, May 17, all students will start the day with a school-wide Talent Show before heading out for their activities. Freshman Farewell

A big thank you to 9th grade parents--the sign up for volunteers for Freshman Farewell is full! The main event is a color run (this is not the day to wear your brand new white t-shirt) followed by a pizza lunch where students will receive gift cards and a Boise High t-shirt. Like the 7th and 8th graders, freshmen will also start the day at the Talent Show and end the day with yearbook signing.
