Wilson ITA National Coach of the Year
Karl Gregor from Tufts University has been named the 2022 Wilson ITA National Coach of the Year.
In his eighth season as the Head Coach at Tufts University, Gregor led his team to the program's best finish in its 30-year history, finishing 20-3 and reaching the NCAA Semifinals.
In what was their first NCAA appearance since 2004, this NCAA Semifinal berth marked the first time in program history in which Tufts had made the Final Four at the NCAA Tournament.
The team finished the 2022 season ranked as the No. 4 team in the country and the No. 2 ranked team in the Northeast Region Rankings.

The entire Tufts Athletics family is very excited to learn you were named the 2022 ITA National Coach of the Year for Division III Men’s Tennis. Congratulations!
It has been a pleasure to watch you build our men’s tennis program into a national contender over the last eight years. After a big season-opening win at Middlebury, followed shortly after by a 14-match regular season winning streak, it was a clear your team was delivering a very special season.
Earning the program’s first NCAA tournament bid since 2004, you and your impressive group of student-athletes took full advantage of the opportunity. You led the Jumbos to victory over talented teams from Goucher, North Carolina Wesleyan and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps to advance to the first Final Four in program history. And after the team pushed eventual national champion University of Chicago to the limit in a tough 5-4 semifinal loss, Isaac Gorelik, Rishabh Sharda and Josh Belandres continued to compete in the NCAA individual championships, with Isaac advancing all the way to the singles semifinals.
To make those competitive achievements all the more impressive, your team’s commitment to academic excellence was reflected in its 3.56 GPA and nine Academic All-NESCAC honors this year. We commend you for your leadership, Karl, and for creating a culture in which our Jumbo men’s tennis student-athletes can thrive both athletically and academically.
