On December 26, 2004, Earthquake Sumatra ruptured the greatest fault length of any recorded earthquake, the spanning distance of 1500 km (900 miles) that's longer than the state of California.

This Earthquake was in the rank with the top ten deadliest earthquakes in the world. Causing over 227,898 fatalities. With a magnitude of 9.0, hours after the quake waves traveled from east Africa to Thailand. This caused damage to 11 coastline countries.
Earthquake Sumatra was devastating to a lot of families, nearly 10 years later (pictures above) over $5 billion in aid was organized to recover southern Indonesia. Mental Illnesses and Post Traumatic Stress Reactivity rates were sky high when the earthquake first ruptured. By 2007 the rates decreased.
