Synopsis
SYNOPSIS
It’s august 23rd, the wedding anniversary of Jabez and Olive Greyson. They stare at each other with passion as the early morning sun rays illuminate their bedroom with soft beams of light funneled through their curtains. BEEP...BEEP...BEEP a sharp alarm cut through the romance. Jabez reluctantly turns to shut off the Alarm when suddenly he's frozen. The clock reads August 23rd and in the reflection Jabez looks traumatized. He snaps around to Olive but she isn’t there. His blank and distant gaze is a reflection of the psychological damage that’s already been done. Jabari reluctantly starts his day with his morning routine of brushing his teeth and once again he feels peace because he candidly believes his wife is next to him. He looks over but there’s nothing there but disappointment and all her belongings neatly placed on the sink. In this moment, he’s driven to the very edge after years of built up grief and is finally coming to terms with the reality of his wife never coming back. Not knowing how to deal with this reality, Jabez gets dressed in his wedding tux, prepares a full meal for two people with two glasses of red wine. Something that was ritualistic for both of them on their anniversary. On the table close to his right hand is a loaded pistol because the only way to kill the pain is through the absence of life. Jabez’s tears permeates the table drop by drop as he fights the internal battle of suicide. With a deep breath he musters enough courage to lift the gun to his temple, and with his eyes closed...BANG! Everything is black. His ears ringing from the gun shot he opens his eyes confused on why he's still alive. Standing next to him and holding his gun hand is his son Raza, who’s been physically and mentally neglected for the last three years. In this serendipitous or supernatural moment, Jabez realizes that he was selfish and has a valid reason to live and carry on. He burst into tears as he hugs his son for the years of damage caused by his grief. Months later Jabez and Raza is playing on a soccer field. What was once lost, is now being rebuild by the true love of a father to his son. Raza takes a few steps back then runs up and kicks the ball out of Jabez’s Reach forcing Jabez to go get it. The ball bumps into a woman who kindly picks it up as Jabez approaches. He’s stunned by her beauty. Looking deep into her eyes he introduces himself and from the look of her face she’s happy that he did. Suddenly he gets a weird feeling and turns around to investigate. Standing next to his son is his wife with a pleasant smile of approval as she slowly fades away.
