Coach took over the UIndy program 8 years ago. At the time the team had no ranking in the region and today we are currently #1 in the country. Over Coach’s career at UIndy his team has won the GLVC Tournament championships in 2015, 2017, and 2019.

Tabet has mentored players in the past such as, Hanna Volikova who finished second at the ITA Oracle Cup in 2016 and rose to No. 3 among Division II singles players. Hanna Volikova an ITA Regional national doubles title along with Alina Kislitskaya. Tabet had earned over 100 wins with the UIndy women's team.

On the current UIndy women’s team, Nikol Alekseeva is the #1 singles player in division 2 in the country as well as the #1 doubles team with Anna Novikova who is also ranked nationally. The currently UIndy women’s team is the ITA National Team Indoor champion in NCAA Division 2.

Coach has won GLVC coach of the year in 2018-2019, 2016-2017, and 2014-2015 in the 2013-2014 season Malik won the ITA Midwest region coach of the year.

Coach Tabet is a big promoter of tennis. This is shown in his hosting of the ITA Midwest region tournament in the fall of 2020. He was one of the few who hosted a regional tournament in a safe environment. Coach is a RAC committee member and has hosted national events in the past. Coach promotes sportsmanship to his team and teaches proper education to his team on and off the court. His expectations of himself and his team are high.

A note from UIndy Director of Athletics, Scott Young

I want to congratulate Malik Tabet and the Greyhound tennis program on another fantastic year. Persevering through the adversity of this unique season, Malik’s teams continued to represent the University of Indianapolis to the highest degree, both on the court and in the classroom. He is most deserving of the Wilson/ITA Coach of the Year award.
