GiveCampus Challenge!

“Volunteer Reactivation”

I wanted to thank all the volunteers who are actively logging in to GiveCampus to stay connected with their assignments throughout the year. Building a relationship with your constituents is vital to your success as a volunteer. This is why I have created a GiveCampus Challenge called “Volunteer Reactivation”.

The rules of this challenge are simple! All you have to do is log in to your GiveCampus account from now through Aug 25th to get entered into a raffle for a chance to win a Notre Dame HAT or WATER BOTTLE of your choice from our bookstore!!

Once you have logged into your account, you will have to review your assignment list. Being able to choose your own assignments is a great way to ensure you have the personal connection that provides for a much more effective fundraising ask. Please make any necessary updates to your assignments list. Either add new assignments or delete old assignments if needed.

Very simple and easy challenge, don't you think? If you have any questions please feel free to contact me directly either via email (wsigalar@nd.edu) or phone (574-631-4762).

Haven’t activated your GiveCampus account yet?

Go to https://www.givecampus.com/schools/NOTREDAME/signup and fill out the form.

You will receive an email from GiveCampus at the specified email address you provided. Click the link in the email to verify their account. Note: The link will expire in 24 hours.

Can’t remember how to add/delete assignments?

Requesting an Assignment:

Start at the "Search Constituents" tab > Scroll through the list of constituents or search for a particular individual > Use the "Advanced Search" option to search by information other than a constituent's name

Under the "Status" column, constituents will have four different statuses: "Unselectable," "Assigned to Me," "Assign to Me", or "Request Assignment."

  • Unselectable - the constituent may not be selected. A constituent may be marked as Unselectable for a variety of reasons. Most commonly the constituent will be marked "Unselectable" if the constituent is already paired with another Volunteer. They may also be either marked as Unselectable in the data files shared with GiveCampus for any reason (deceased, major gift prospect, etc.)
  • Assigned to Me - volunteer is already paired with this constituent
  • Assign to Me - the constituent is able to be selected and no Staff Handler approval is required
  • Request Assignment - the constituent is able to be selected.

Fall Summit!

September 10, 2022

We are delighted to announce that we will once again be hosting our annual fall summit in person this year! We are very excited to invite all of our volunteers back to campus for an amazing networking opportunity with other volunteers and also revitalize our ND Loyal Volunteer program.

After our summit session, as a way for us to recognize and thank our most involved volunteers, we will be inviting our top 25 volunteers (and their +1) to join us at a football game!

We are in the process of finalizing all the details and will communicate with everyone as soon as we can.

Please be on the lookout for your summit invitation soon!

Welcome Weekend

For incoming students, Welcome Weekend is a first glimpse into the uniqueness of a Notre Dame undergraduate educational experience. It’s where many students are first introduced to the academic, residential, and co-curricular life available on campus, and it’s where we first demonstrate our commitment to a safe and inclusive environment of teaching and learning, and facilitate the exploration of University resources.

Undergraduate classes will begin on Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2022. Welcome Weekend will begin for all new students and their guests on the morning of Friday, Aug. 19. Parent and family programming will conclude in the evening on Saturday, Aug. 20. Additional student-only opportunities and events will continue through Monday, Aug. 22. Read more>

August is Black Business Month

Black Business Month is celebrated in August — it’s a time to acknowledge and appreciate black-owned businesses across the nation and all that they represent in the country’s continual striving for diversity and equality.

When we celebrate the contribution of black business owners and entrepreneurs, it pays homage to them and their legacies, especially since celebrating this month recognizes the importance of black-owned businesses when it comes to contributing to the nation’s economy as well.

How to observe Black Business Month

1. Show your support

Use Black directories on the internet to guide you to black-owned businesses for your daily needs or any car repair work or fine-tuning that needs doing. This can help you shop local when it comes to small businesses owned by Black people. You can also follow the hashtag trails on social media to follow Black business pages and help them gain a wider reach.

2. Read about black entrepreneurship

Support Black entrepreneurs by hearing what they have to say firsthand. There is a lot of literature out there that has been written and read by successful black entrepreneurs and businesspeople, so grab any one and get reading. Here is a list of some of the more popular ones, including, "The Color of Money" by Mehrsa Baradaran, "The Little Black Book of Success" by Elaine Meryl Brown, "How to Win Friends and Influence People" by Dale Carnegie, and "Everyday Millionaires" by Chris Hogan.

3.Try 'Black Food Fridays'

Look no farther than #BlackFoodFridays on Instagram to be part of the super-cool movement started by Charleston, South Carolina's writer/activist/innovator — K. J. Kearney. The aim of the movement is simple; to direct peoples' attention to black-owned restaurants all over the country. The idea is now developing into a business, with apps like ‘EatOkra’ also doing the same. Read more>
