“I'll never bow to your expectations, I never have I never will. -- I'm not a puppet, pawn, or figure head I'm a man of my own free will. -- Our freedoms are slowly surrendered as they take more than their fill. -- How much power is ever enough for the men, the men on Capitol Hill."

Let's look at this wonderful bit of freedom known as "Selective Service." Quoting from their website, sss.gov: "Failing to register or comply with the Military Selective Service Act is a felony punishable by a fine of up to $250,000 or a prison term of up to five years, or a combination of both. Also, a person who knowingly counsels, aids, or abets another to fail to comply with the Act is subject to the same penalties." Land of the Free™.

Selective service is one of the best propaganda programs to have ever come through the gates of hell. It is literally the government flexing it’s ownership over you. It’s your reminder that you can screw whatever goals and responsibilities you have in life, if some politician wants to get a big fat check from a defense contractor, then your life is a small price to pay. It’s time to end selective service, and call it by it’s real name: Slavery.

This si one of the first Strung Out songs I ever heard and perhaps one of the shining reasons why I felt a need to emblazon their logo on my person. This song is such a big middle finger to the war machine. It screams I'm not a pawn to be used in your game. I think Jason gets a little too lefty for me sometimes but these lyrics say it best to me:

"Oh, firecracker, patriotic lie. You were burning bright the day the country died, in all your glory, in all your pride. Light the way, torch of Liberty. Light the sky for the whole world to see, in all your glory, in all your pride."
