On October 25, 2018 a group of Veterans, their families and staff got their creative juices flowing with the inaugural Positivity Project. Recreational Therapist Dawn Fail-Phillips and Occupational Therapist Maria Gomez-Landsidel, brought the concept to the South Texas VA after seeing the positive effect it had on other parts of the country.
Phillips said it is a great activity for Veterans to express themselves and it doesn't cost them anything to participate. Everything is provided for them. The only thing they have to bring is their creativity and ideas.
The end-products were as diverse as the different military experiences in the room. Some had patriotic, or service themed rocks, while others painted favorite mantras, animals or hobbies that are important to them.
The result of their hard work (and fun.)
