Mason Campuses

Mason’s beautiful 670-acre residential campus is located in Fairfax, Virginia. Our additional Virginia campuses in Arlington and Manassas and our overseas campus in Songdo, South Korea, provide expanded access to educational opportunities for Mason students and others in our communities.

Mason is home to the Smithsonian-Mason School of Conservation in Front Royal, Virginia, a site that provides experiential education opportunities for students building careers in global conservation.

Campus Safety

Mason is committed to both individual and community safety. Our Mason Alert text notification system provides immediate updates and safety information. Students also have access to an array of safety features through the RAVE Guardian smartphone app. The George Mason University Department of Police and Public Safety has a force of more than 135 full- and part-time personnel. Officers are available on campus 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

Online Learning Options

Mason Online allows students to take select classes offered on campus in an online format while at home, stationed abroad, or traveling. This allows you to learn on your own time from wherever you are.

Our 50+ residence halls offer a variety of options, including suites, apartments, and Learning Communities (LCs). Residence halls offer new or recently renovated spaces, open lounge areas, shared kitchens, and free laundry facilities.

Dining

With dining locations across our campuses—some open 24 hours—you’ll have the flexibility to eat what you want and when you want. Mason Dining offers something for every palate or dietary need, including allergen-free, vegan, gluten-free, and halal options. And if you're too busy studying, Mason Dining's fleet of delivery robots can bring you dinner while you brush up before finals!

Fitness

Three state-of-the-art fitness centers offer everything from an Olympic-sized pool to group exercise classes. Mason’s fitness resources are endless—and free for full-time students.

MOISES DAVIDSON

Major: Communication, concentration in public relations

Hometown: Panama City, Panama

About: Moises was born in Panama and moved to the United States when he was 5 years old. On campus, he was involved in many student organizations, such as Mason Ambassadors and the Hispanic Student Association, and he also served as the president of Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship. He hopes to one day use his public relations skills to have a positive impact on the lives of others.

ZOE PETERS

Major: Film and Video Studies

Hometown: Chantilly, Virginia

About: Zoe earned one of 50 coveted spots in the Television Academy Foundation’s Internship Program. Assigned to Valhalla Entertainment, she wrote coverage pieces for CEO Gale Anne Hurd, the mind behind hits like The Walking Dead television series and The Terminator movies. Zoe has also helped write and develop scripts for television shows like Amazon’s Lore.

“The internships were really satisfying professionally. I got to help with script edits and transcribing for the new series. It was neat to be a fly on the wall as the series was reaching its final stages.”

KELLON JONES

Majors: Psychology and Neuroscience

Hometown: Little Rock, Arkansas

About: As a student, Kellon was a research assistant at Mason’s Social and Cognitive Interactions Lab. In addition to his research, Kellon held leadership roles on campus, serving on the university’s Interfraternity Council and the Diversity Advisory Council. After graduation, Kellon accepted a position with Amazon.

STUDENT FINANCIAL AID

Mason Provides an Affordable Education

Many Mason students receive some form of financial aid, such as grants, scholarships, work-study employment, or loans. Mason’s Office of Student Financial Aid has a team of dedicated professionals available to help you and your family.

Mason's loan default rate is 2.1 percent, which is significantly lower than the national default rate of 10.1 percent. This means that Mason graduates are better positioned than others to pay off the investment they made in their education.

APPLYING TO MASON

Transfer Application Requirements

Transfer applicants should present the following criteria to be competitive for admission:

  • 24 transferable credits from a regionally accredited institution
  • Students with fewer than 24 college credits are required to submit high school transcripts and standardized test scores
  • 2.75 cumulative GPA
  • Transferable English composition and mathematics course
  • Non-native speakers of English must meet the university’s English language proficiency requirement

In-State Transfers

Guaranteed Admission Agreement Requirements

Students earning an AS, AA, or AA&S through the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) may take advantage of this unique partnership between Mason and VCCS colleges. Specific requirements must be met to qualify for guaranteed transfer admission to Mason.

ADVANCE: A NOVA-Mason Partnership

ADVANCE is open to all Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) students with fewer than 30 credits who plan to transfer to George Mason to pursue a bachelor's degree. Specifically designed to streamline the transition between the institutions, the program connects you to dedicated advisors and success coaches from your first day at NOVA through your graduation from Mason.

Transfer Application Deadlines

Application Priority Deadlines

  • Fall Admission: March 1
  • Spring Admission: October 1
  • Mason Financial Aid Deadline: March 1

Applications for general transfer admission will be considered after the priority deadlines on a space-available basis. Late applicants are not considered for GAA admission. Using the Mason application, students may apply to the Honors College for either the fall or spring semesters, but must meet the priority deadline for their semester of entry.

The Office of Transfer Services offers transfer counseling Monday through Friday by appointment only for prospective transfer students and applicants. Appointment Information
