Baseball Stuns #11 USM, Wins on the Road 4-0

Junior Cabot Maher (above) went 2-4 with a double and triple in Wednesday's win over perennial Division III powerhouse USM. He ended the week 8-16 at the plate, also throwing 1.2 innings against USM for the save and 2.1 innings against Tufts Sunday for the win. Wednesday's victory marked the third time in program history over the Huskies.
Before Sunday's split with Tufts, the seven seniors were honored for their contributions to Colby Baseball.

Women's Lacrosse Plays Tough Against #3 Tufts, Mules Now Ranked 8th

Sophomore Annie Eddy (above) recorded her second hat trick in as many games to start the 2021 season. The Mules battled an experienced Jumbos squad that made it to the NCAA Final Four in recent years.

Women's Tennis Falls to Tufts on the Road

First year Sam Riordan (above) won the lone match for the Mules, making her 2-0 to start her collegiate career.

Men's Lacrosse Faces #1 Tufts University

After winning big in their 2021 opener against USM a week ago, Colby went on the road against the top-ranked lacrosse team in the country. The score stayed tight for the first half, but the Jumbos scored 11 unanswered goals to open the second half to pull away.

Will Dodge '21 and Charlie Lynch '22 each netted two for the Mules.

#18 Tufts Tops Men's Tennis 6-3

Senior Sumukh Pathi (above) topped his opponent from the three-spot to move to 2-0 on the year. Top-seeded Jan Wenger '23 faced off against one of the top singles players in the nation, dropping a third-set tie breaker to Boris Sorkin of Tufts.

Jumbos Flex to Take a Home-and Home from Colby

Traditionally ranked in the top-3 in New England, Tufts University took a home-and-home series from Colby in the Mules' first conference action. In the finale, sophomore Amanda Cabral sparked the Mules going 3-4 at the plate to raise her season average to .412.

A four-person panel of Colby student athletes helped guide a conversation of mental health awareness, taking time for yourself, and understanding that it is ok to ask for help when you are struggling.

"We all go through peaks and valleys," shared Hersch. "When you are in your low points, you have to remember that it will get better, that some days will be better than others, and you have to search for ways to turn it around." Hersch continued, "This comes out in sports a lot, when you have a bad day on the field it's a lot harder to forget… bad plays stick with us. What we all need to remember is that we are all good players. None of us would be here if we weren't. We are all good students. None of us we be at Colby if we weren't. We are also good people… none of us would be here if we weren't."
