Principal's Message

It's been a great few weeks back in our classrooms for the beginning of the school year. It's good to see all of our students and staff back in the building, focused on learning and instruction. Our fall athletics are also in full swing and we invite all of our families to come out and show their support.

In this edition of the newsletter, we'd like to introduce our school resource officers as well as our mental health specialists.

I want to reiterate that we are a safe school, and that terroristic threatening, per KRS 508.078, can result in in-school removal, out of school suspension, and expulsion recommendation. General Announcements

Senior Picture Day!

  • Thursday, Sept. 8th and Friday, Sept. 9th during your English class.
  • All seniors will be photographed in "Tux and Drape" for the yearbook.
  • Girls- please bring a spaghetti strap tank top to go under the drape.
  • Guys- please bring a white tshirt to go under the tux.
  • ON PICTURE DAY, students will be coming home with a personalized log in sheet. (No paper proofsheets are being sent home)
  • Use the information to register online and you will then be notified by text and email once the photographs become available a few days later.
  • You will be able to view, select your yearbook pose and purchase picture packages all online
  • Print orders will be delivered to the school a few weeks after the deadline or you may have your order mailed home for an additional fee.

Picture Day Make Up

  • Thursday and Friday is also makeup picture day for 9th-11th graders. If any student did not get their picture taken on the original picture day, Thursday beginning of B2, and Friday beginning of A4 are good times for them to get their make up photos taken (this is for 9th-11th grade).

Homecoming Week is Sept 25-Oct 1

  • September 25th- Parade at 5pm!
  • September 26th- Men’s Volleyball Tournament at 6pm- Main gym
  • September 27th- Dinner for Homecoming Court
  • September 28th- Blood Drive- must be 16 years or older to donate; if 16, must pick up a permission slip from B215 before the Drive- sign up at bit.ly/FDHSBloodDrive
  • September 29th- Powderpuff Tournament at 6pm- Football Field
  • September 30th- Pep Rally during 4th block; Game- Halftime Homecoming Court Presentation and Crowning
  • October 1st- Dance 8-11pm

Counseling Corner

Bullying/Harassment/Suicide Prevention

  • Kentucky legislation, KRS 156.095, requires that all middle and high school students receive bullying/harassment and suicide prevention information by September 15.
  • On Tuesday, September 13th, advisory teachers at FDHS, with mental health staff to support as needed, will deliver this information to their students in a 30 – 40 minute lesson. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your student’s academy counselor.

Future Business Leaders of America

If your student is interested in joining the Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) club, please have them complete this Google Form.

Behavior Expectations at Athletic Events

  • Middle school students must be with a supervising adult and have their badge or student ID.
  • Backpacks are not allowed.
  • Pets are not allowed.
  • No outside food or drink.
  • No re-entry.
  • All tickets are $5

  • Track and field workouts will begin on Wednesday, September 21st from 3:30-5:30. All students must have a sports physical on hand to start.

Project Ricochet Inc. presents the Titan Financial Legacy Summit for the entire family to enjoy! Hosted and Sponsored by The Promise Academy at William Wells Brown Elementary School, Saturday, September 17, 2022; 548 E. Sixth St, Lexington, KY, 40508 from 9am to 2:30pm! Adults will have breakout sessions to learn tips and strategies on how to properly budget and plan for the future, How to plan and prepare to budget for your student's college at a free or reduced tuition rate, Learn about the different types of life insurance policies and an opportunity to secure you and your family, Learn about how to budget, prepare and set yourself up for retirement, and Fahe will teach about how to obtain a mortgage and the many programs they offer to get you into a home. You will also have a chance to get pre-approved for a mortgage from Fahe and network with realtors at the summit! Financial Literacy is a vital key to creating a Legacy and sustainability for oneself and their family.
