Derek Perkins Ministries Empowering Jackson Youth
Thank you for your interest in Derek Perkins Ministries, a Jackson youth-focused mission geared towards enriching and beautifying our communities with invigorated Christian leaders. We are infusing children with ideas such as entrepreneurship, hard work, and an appreciation for God's word and creation through outdoor activities natural to the Mississippi landscape. Many of our children have developed a strong sense of community. They have become husbands and wives and still carry on an appreciation for the outdoors too!
We hope every child can experience the beauty of their natural landscape and take part in it's preservation. We also hope that every child can grow and develop in the grace of the Lord to one day help others in their community. We are community-focused, Christ-centered, and energetic! Join with us in our fight to bring Jackson out of poverty by helping the next generation to succeed and care for the generations that come after them.
Derek has devoted his life to teaching the word of God and developing young kids into community focused adults. After traveling to Kenya with his father, John M. Perkins, to meet with Christian leaders, Derek returned with the word, "harambee" on his mind. In Swahilli, it means, "Let's push together." When there was a problem in the village, someone would yell "harambee" and everyone would come out to help.
That is exactly how Derek has helped to shape so many young men and women. He called out, "Harambee" and the community banded together to transform lives. It never happens overnight. The patience of discipleship is required, but that is where Derek Perkins Ministries comes in. We want to partner with others who want to see this community blossom. We nurture children through young adulthood. With your support, we can create a lasting landmark in this community that will be a beacon shining on a hill.

My dad is an inspiration to me. He is my rabbi. I have never seen someone who wanted to have the heart of King David so much; to be a man after God's own heart. He loves Christ and has spent his life helping the most forgotten people of our society. Even when he has had nothing he was still trying to bring kids to Christ. Young men, now fathers, walk up to me all the time and say, "Your dad is my dad." And they call me sister. If my father is not teaching the Bible, evil is taking the place of good. Partner with us in hope and joy as we see the miracles Christ will provide!
