MENTAL WELLNESS MOMENT SCROLL DOWN FOR THE 5TH EDITION MWM NEWSLETTER

"Anything that's human is mentionable, and anything that is mentionable can be more manageable. When we can talk about our feelings, they become less overwhelming, less upsetting, and less scary." -Fred Rogers

When we discuss our feelings, we are identifying our current state of mental wellness.

At different stages of our lives and through our life experiences, our state of mental wellness can change. These changes develop a difference in the way we act and react in all of the functioning domains of our life. Dependent on our current state of mental wellness (the way we feel), our functioning domains of our lives could be affected, such as our relational, occupational, social and/or educational performance. The way that we act/react shows up in our relationships, our jobs, our social interactions, and our schoolwork. Many times, we can speak on our current situations and problems; however, we are often unable to explain how we “feel.” When we leave behind identifying our feelings, we are unable to know what impact our feelings have on the current situations and/or problems. We must begin to recognize and express our “feelings” because this plays a big role in being able to stabilize and manage our feelings as well as being able to control how we act and react.

Start taking the time with yourself to acknowledge how you are feeling. Give yourself permission to NOT BE OKAY, give yourself permission to FEEL, and give yourself permission to HEAL. Pay less attention to the situation or the problem and tap into YOU. Stop giving control of your feelings over to a situation or problem.

YOUR LIFE can be MORE CALM, MORE JOYFUL, and MORE PEACEFUL.
